Default It's THAT busy in December??

I know the first two weeks of december are super popular for DVC members, and I have our room booked. Today is the first day I can make ADRs. I wasn't particularly worried about it b/c I thought crowds were low that time of year. However, I'm off today so I thought I might as well book the couple of places we were sure we wanted.
I was shocked to find very limited avaibility! I booked 5 meals, which is probably too many anyway. I just didn't expect crowds that size!

If you are looking at Epcot restaurants, a lot of tables are held back for the Candlelight Processional packages.

Actually, I just realized I didn't look at any Epcot tables, except the princess breakfast, which was open. On our first night, I only had one choice at Magic Kingdom!

If it's a party night (Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party), reservations in MK go fast as people want to eat before the party officially starts at 7.

It is expected that the new Be Our Guest restaurant will be open in December but I don't think they are taking reservations.

If you do a reservation search with no restriction on location, I think you will see there are actually quite a few openings.

Yep, you're exactly right. That is a party night. I made a 6:30 reservation, but we aren't going to the party. I might need to rethink that plan. We will likely arrive around 3 and are staying at BLT. I thought we could just walk over to MK for a little while, but that might not be our best option.

If you are using a MYW ticket, don't waste a park day going to MK in the afternoon when the park closes at 7pm.

Those with just MVMCP tickets can start entering the MK at 4pm.

I had only seen "holiday season." Did you see or hear December somewhere?

We have been the first two weeks in Dec., and it is not crowded at all. I would blame the Christmas party.

Lack of on-site capacity doesn't always translate to crowd levels. Goes for both WDW and DLR. First weeks of Dec are usually slow as most people wait till the last two weeks to arrive. Boy do things sure pick up around the 20th... Learned that in person the year we decied to come home on the 23rd. The difference in the crowds at all the parks (Disney, Uni, BG, SW) was incredible between either side of that mark.
