I am guessing 2 Hawaii cruises, a few out of LA, cruise thru Panama, and then out of Florida. In the spring, repeat backwards to Alaska again.

The Alaska Cruises are a proven winner, and DCL will not change that itinerary.

You do not, but I have given you every answer as to why you should book a dummy cruise, why/when DCL itineraries normally come out, what/when to expect with the next release of cruises. Yet, even after all that you either dismissed or ignored my post.....but then you give Dirk "props" for a nice post, when all he did was summarize everything I had posted.

And on top of all that, you go back and edit out your posts.....

I just asked a simple question.

Bob and I will be on a ship in a few days. I am sure one of us can post what is currently happening. At any rate, DCL has a very good cancellation policy. There is nothing to lose. Well, other than cash in my pocket.

I think I will just tell them I want to rebook, but I want to sail out of west coast and see what they suggest/offer. Maybe they can do some Disney magic and let be front of the line for the next set of cruises on this side.

They should build a castaway Cay over here somewhere.

Just chiming in with my recent experiences with onboard bookings... ( btw- I agree with every word Tom said )

On the Member's Cruise last September, I told the sales rep on the Dream I wanted a dummy booking. Told her I wanted to see what was coming out in 2013 so I didn't care what she booked. She had me fill out the form, credited the cruise back to my mother's travel agency (where I'm a very part time agent ) and I believe that for my future cruise I paid $83 dollars. We were booked on a very cheap November or December cruise, a 3 nighter, and only booked in my name and my husbands.

Later, when the 2013 cruises came out, I moved the booking to a June 7 nighter on the Fantasy and added my daughter to the reservation. Now, obviously, I paid more, but still only 10%- I'd moved up to a much more expensive cruise. I got the 10% off ( plus my commission ) and a $200 SBC.

For tying up $83 bucks it's a deal that can't be beat. Add the free SBC ( plus whatever SBC your TA adds to the top ) the 10% savings ( my Fantasy cruise is a $4000 cruise so another $400 saving ) AND only tying up $83 bucks until you make up your mind....it's the best small amount of money you can spend.

Have fun!

I paid in full for my cruise and they wouldn't allow me to add insurance. I tried to cancel and rebook but the fare increased over $1200 for just my cabin. I called private insurance company but they didn't offer cancel for any reason coverage. Do you know anyone who does offer this?

Default Just returned from DCL cruise

We just returned from the DCL Hawaii cruise, which had a LARGE number of Platinum and Gold Castaway Club members, and most seemed to want to book a future cruise without a definite date. Castaway Club members receive an increased on board credit on a future cruise, and if you're on board, even on your first cruise, you'll be a Castaway Club member when you get off the ship, so it's worth booking on board. In addition, on board bookings receive a 10% discount and reduced deposit. Here's how the bookings were handled on the Hawaii cruise:
For those uncertain of travel dates, or looking to book a cruise on a date not yet released, the representative booked a "dummy" reservation in the GTY category (no cabin assigned) on board the Disney Dream for a 3 night cruise in December, 2013. That way passengers would only have to put down the lowest deposit amount, and DCL would not be holding cabins for passengers not really planning on taking that cruise. It was understood by all parties that you were not officially booked on this cruise, that it was being used as a "place holder", and if necessary, you would increase the deposit amount when you booked the desired cruise. I assume that if you didn't book a replacement cruise by the time the final payment was due on that December, 2013 cruise, you'd be sailing on the Dream in the GTY category on that 3 night cruise or lose your deposit.
The representative said that DCL expected to have the Magic and Wonder Fall 2013 itineraries coming online this September or October. No info on the Classic ships for 2014 at this time. He indicated that the Dream and the Fantasy would continue on similar itineraries (3,4,7 night Caribbean/Bahamas) in 2014, with the possibility of small changes and/or holiday cruises.
