I'm sure you're absolutely right. We should at least get one visit in before we decide that we love it enough to commit to the purchase, not to mention the regular purchase of plane tickets.

We live on the west coast, but still go to WDW a lot more than DL, so all of our points are at WDW DVC resorts. Plus the resale prices at WDW are a lot better than the prices for VGC (direct or resale).

Are you planning to use all 260 of these points for one trip? If so, I am not sure I would choose a different resort unless I was ok with a split stay because your 11 month advantage would be at 2 different resorts.

I agree. 100 points may not get you the stay you want at 11 months. So you'll be doing some nights at each resort if you can't change at 7 months. I think I'd just buy the additional points at my home resort.

That said, I would not be in a big hurry to add on. Even if you have to borrow points for your usual stay, it will take several years before you'd have to skip a trip. Figure it out and see. IMO, resale prices will come down over the next several years. Why pay more MFs before you have to? Just something to think about.

I totally see your point, but we've already considered that. We figured that 100 point contract would give us the advantage we needed every three years if we wanted to do a 1BR at VGC. And that one year we skip Kidani would build is back up from what we borrowed over time.

And adding on to Kidani doesn't make as much sense to us, because if we banked and borrowed on our existing contract, we'd have enough for a grand villa if we ever wanted one, so I don't see needing more for Kidani.

The next purchase is almost definitely going to be 100 points. We don't do multiple trips per year, so the banking and borrowing thing will get us enough points for the home booking whenever we need it.

I agree with you. I have 100 points at BLT and a small contract at VWL. This has worked great for us. I prefer having the two resorts and you can borrow from the one if needed. The use year is much more important.
