Default Xpass testing trial to begin May 1 to May 15

Wdwmagic.com is reporting that a group of visitors will be able to book a days worth of fast pass for the MK. Fast pass will be tracked using the new RFID Mickey head readers some have seen before. See link below

I'm looking forward to this. Should work out better for my wife who likes to sleep in, now she should be able to have an easier time booking getting a fastpass with this.

I'll be interested to see the results of the test. Even after all the rumors and discussion I still just do not see the appeal. Granted, I'm not a Disney veteran who travels to WDW two or three times a year but I am a planner - I already have a general itinerary together for our trip next January - and yet planning each day down to the minute six months in advance fills me with anxiety. I can't imagine having to be entirely rigid and programmed with no room for daily changes just so I can ride Toy Story Mania or see a parade. I have a six-year-old whose moods cannot be predicted, nor can his hunger, his need for a rest or his need to ride Buzz Lightyear for the eighth time.

If it is the X-pass system or nothing I will seriously consider cancelling our booking and use that money to go somewhere else. Probably several somewhere-else's with what it is costing me

There have been pictures posted on the net of these machines being setup in diffferent existing FP areas. Can't wait to see how it works out. I suspect this will be a huge plus for those that don't like having to make time to get FP's.

It sounds like a good idea but what if you change your plans for that day. We did more than twice this past week of what park we were going to. I would like to try it though.

I don't know, but this seems a bit extreme to me. I don't think it will be X-pass or nothing, but even if it is, no one is being forced to be programmed down to the minute. If using this myself, I would probably choose a couple of my favorite rides for times that I know I will be in the park. For us, that would be early in the morning and later after dinner. For other families that may include the hours between 12 and 3 pm. For us it would never include those hours. And just because someone makes an X-pass reservation, doesn't mean life has to stop. If things come up, you don't make an X-pass reservation...oh well, same as FP today.

Obviously, this system is going to have kinks, but I'm sure people were rebeling against Fast Pass when it came out and I'm sure there were kinks. We love FP. Even with the new enforced window, we still love it, so I'll have to see how this new program works. Maybe I'll love it, maybe I'll hate it, but I certainly wouldn't cancel my Disney vacation over it.

I am so against this. Can we retain a small amount of spontaneity in our Disney vacation? I usually don't even know what park I want to go to six weeks in advance let alone what ride to go on. Now we have to get an appointment to meet a character? Reserved spots for the parade? Can we just chillax a little? What's next- advance passes for a drink and a small plate of food in EPCOT? Advanced reservations to stand in front of the ball in EPCOT? Priority seating for Citizens of Hollywood? A fast pass to look at a monkey in AK?

Sure. Then lets dump FP all together.

And as much as I'm for x-pass, I could actually get behind getting rid of FP as long as it was fully dumped and everything went back to "normal".

But I fully reject the idea that FP doesn't cause significant amounts of planning ahead. Given the number of FPs guests tend to get everybday, a limited x-pass system will require less planning ahead, not more.

I wonder where the test will be? At all four parks on at a single park?
I assume it might start at Epcot since that is where they did the last RFID test.
