I believe that Disney will bend over backwards at times just to please the patient. I think at one time Disney would do the opposite and please the one that spoke the loudest and made a scene, just to quiet them down. Believe me that Disney doesn't like bad publicity but even if a loudmouth complains to their friends, their friends probably know who really was to blame.
We have been rewarded many times at Disney for not causing a scene and being patient. If you ask nicely, most times your wishes are granted.

This thread is awesome! Best laughs all day! I've seen some pretty entertaining things at Disney, but I guess we just don't do enough ADRs to encounter something like this. (We also go in January when we're practically the only ones there.) I admire anyone who will go when it's packed to the brim!

I know it's been said, but I'm SO glad they didn't reward BO's behavior. People that act like that in public shouldn't be rewarded. Someone also made the comment earlier in the thread that she's also probably the type of person that references how much she paid for the trip and that for some reason she would deserve something. Everyone else paid the same thing, some folks maybe more than she did. Some folks...

I just. Made an ADR and thanks to this thread I made a folder just for emails like this so I can always access them when I'm at the restaurant.

I was just thinking that it might be helpful to add our method to this thread. As I make reservations, I add the dates and times to my gmail calendar. I put the location and then add the confirmation number. I then set up an alarm pop-up for myself for 20 minutes before reservation time. That way the confirmation number is right there on my phone when I need it. Right before the trip, I verify the dates and make any last minute changes. I did this for our Christmas trip and it worked so well that I did the same thing for Spring Break. Pre smart phone, I used to just print the list of ressies out and keep the printout in my backpack that always goes to the parks. I've only "needed" the confirmation number once when a CM was looking for an incorrect spelling of our name and couldn't find our reservation. But once was enough to convince me to stay organized.

I do the same thing, although not until shortly before the trip (as opposed to when making the reservation). We take a bunch of trips, so it's not worth it to plan for any particular trip until it is close.

Having done this, I have yet to ever need the confirmation number. Of course, if I ever decide to omit it, I'll need it then

Cheers.

No kidding - last time we were at WDW and went to
EPCOT, we were near Norway and DS6 pipes up...

"remember when we were here and that man was
screaming and the little girl was crying real hard?"

A family shows up for one of the Princess character
meals without a reservation and they weren't taking
any walk ups. He flips out. Screaming about how
much money he spent on his trip, berating the hostess,
etc, etc, etc. His daughter is crying, his wife looks
embarrassed and eventually the manager comes out
and tells him he needs to calm down or he'll have
him escorted from the park.

Yeah- that's actually happened to me though. Walked up and checked in to find out that Dh's name- family of 3 was already checked in. When I showed my confirmation number they admitted someone else had been allowed to check in with my name (and that there weren't two same names in the system- only the one that matched my number) and pointed her out. It wasn't a huge deal since it wasn't crowded, but she noticed what had happened when I tried to check in and refused to make eye contact when I said (sweetly)- "I guess the computers got confused with two families reserved at the exact same time with the exact same name!"

Well, when you don't know how to use your good looks to get what you want, this is what you resort to!

Our experience has also been that Disney is patient but doesnt cave in, their ADR system works, we've only had a problem once (let me not jinx myself tho) when they couldnt find us (at old Spoodles) but then with my phone number they were able to retrieve,

Surprised they didnt ask for that as Spoodles did.

Unfortunately in today's society the squeaky wheel gets the grease, or so some of the more agressive personalities have come to find out. This is just another case of a person feeling entitled because "I paid good money for this vacation" and "I deserve to get what I want". There are alot of BOs out there!
