I voted I would consider it.

My thinking was we usually go the same week every year, and use our other points for side trips when we need a fix. So a hybrid of a fixed and variable point system would be the best of both worlds.

As I mentioned in my first post, DVC is offering fixed weeks at Aulani. I think up to 35% of the points/units can be fixed. If you do not "lock-in" your week, the points can be used like any other points.

For the record, not all timeshares that offer weeks are fixed. Resorts like Westin St John offer half their weeks as fixed and half are float.

Every timeshare resort I own is a float week. I like to be able to go when I want, not the same week every year. But with DVC, we go randomly during the year, except for the NYE break. Since we do go that week, the busiest of the year.....it would make sense to pay the extra to go that week.

no way.

love how flexible DVC is.

had another fix week and it was a nightmare - first you had to call and make reservations - even with a fix week. secondly they kept changing when you could make the dues. sometimes they were okay when you checked in - other times they wanted it Jan 1. finally got rid of it.

no way would go back to that mixed up system.

my other timeshare is floating too.

I answered no. I love the flexibility. I also love being about to go for just a short weekend if we want too.

No way. I bought VGC points to primarily use at DLR 4-5 nights at a time.

I voted no because I want to see all the different seasons at Disney. Christmas, Fall, Flower and Garden, etc. Plus we take multiple trips in a 12 month period. My Dsis loves her fixed week, though. She likes that she is "required" to stop working to relax a bit. If she doesn't, she misses the opportunity to take the vacation (which she has done a couple of times as well). Yet another reason I would not want fixed, I guess.

When DW and I want to vacation and escape winter we use our fixed week non-Disney timeshare. When we want to celebrate the seasons, it's all about DVC. Last minute plans to visit for Flower and Garden or the Food and Wine Festival. Or a short getaway to experience the Halloween or Christmas decorations, that's what DVC is all about for us.

No. Like jflatto said, I like the flexibility not only of time, but also resort and size of accommodation. Even if I wanted to go the same week every year, i would still want to enjoy all the resorts and would not want to be limited to one size of villa.

Talking No

We had been on many of those High Pressure Time shares up in New England and then they pull out the chart and ask "What week would you like? Red, Blue or Green"?!? We love the flexibility of room, resort and size of rooms. Two of our last 3 vacations we are/were able to book two 2 BR for a group of 13 of us and we stayed a AKV and in August will be in THV!?!
I have a friend that was given a Timeshare for their wedding gift (Some gift that you have to pay dues on for the rest of your life?!?) and they never stayed there because it was in April 3rd week and they just never went?!? That is crazy! They are going in December to their off site TS and we are trying to get them to look at DVC (REFERRAL)!! Once they figure out the differences of staying on and off property with two lil ones!!
