ok so i read the whole book "the Game On Diet" I am not so sure about it. I like the competition aspect but I don't think i can stick to the food rules.

I ran 7.75 mi today, felt great even though I am slower than i used to be.

I saw this today and thought it was a great inspiration for when you are feeling too tired or busy or whatever to exercise. love the huge smile on his face

Love that image!!!

Okay, so I joined this running/walking club and I love it!
it is so well set up I am just in awe that I have this as
an option instead of treadmill work most of the time.

I arrived on Saturday morning, signed my waiver, signed
in and then I got a shoe tag with my name, an emergency
contact number and any allergies. Put my keys in a little
drop box and got started. The ladies in my group and
really everyone were very welcoming. I would guess there
were 120 or so people of all fitness levels participating.
The course was well set up and they had water stations,
places to drop off clothes if you got too warm (you pick
them up later at the store where you meet) and plenty
of people around watching in case anyone needs assistance.
We did a very brisk 5 miles walk, then returned, stretched
and enjoyed the Starbucks, fruit and breakfast breads they
had out for us. I also got a nifty Nike dri fit shirt and then
I have a training schedule for during the week. We meet
on Saturdays at 6:40am for warm ups and will change to
5:30am once it starts warming up. I'm so glad I found this
group and think the cost was worth it. I feel more motivated
and thoroughly enjoyed my walking partners. The next two
weeks are timed for distance and after that we move to a
new area and begin work on hills and drills. Yay me!

Default Got back on the horse and it kicked me off

So I exercised mtw last week, got sick thurs and was out til sunday. Decided on Sunday to go for a run around a local reservoir while the family walked around it. On the first lap - stepped on something and hurt my foot / ankle. The pain was really on the outside of my foot below my ankle, but it felt like I twisted my ankle. Anyway - I stopped, tied my shoe tighter, and went around the reservoir 3 more times for a total of 5 miles. My foot still hurt during the SB, so I took Monday off for rest. I went out this AM for a 5 mile run and it felt ok - and so did I - 7'19" pace.

Tomorrow is insanity - and I don't mean the tax season kind.

That sounds awesome, Jessykah! i would love to find a group like that for myself! how did you find them?
Mike- glad your foot is ok- I am so paranoid about injury I think that is part of the reason i don't push my speed as much as I could.

Speaking of speed- I almost fainted when I got back from my run yesterday and looked at my stats on mapmyrun. It said I went 4.5 miles in 37 minutes and my average pace was 8.24. That is WAY faster than I normally go. I am happy with a 10 minute mile- or 6mph on the treadmill. So I was all excited. But the more I thought about it, the more it seemed impossible. So I looked at the route and my gps must be off, I think it was more 3.75 miles. Makes a lot more sense. Now I gotta figure out how to fix it.

Also my friends and I start game on! on saturday. I tried to do a trial run yesterday- it is pretty hard. You have to meet a bunch of goals everyday. Mainly they are:
drink 3 liters of water
get at least 7 hours of sleep
eat 5 small meals 2-4 hours apart (lots of rules about what you can eat)
exercise 20 minutes
practice a new good habit
abstain from a previous bad habit
communicate with a teammate
(you declare a good habit and a bad habit before you start)
it is a lot to keep track of but it makes you aware of what you are doing which is kind of the point.

Hi John! hi Tammy! I am going to hit you both up on word with friend- what is your username again, John?

cheapmom - wow, that is a lot of rules
I would totally forget half of them by noon!

Got up bright and early and headed to the gym.
I needed to walk 70 minutes per my training
schedule, but only managed 65 b/c of lack of time.
That included warm up and cool down and I got in
about 4 miles total.
