Default French Press Coffee Service 2 out of 3 not bad.

We were at the World 10/17/11 to 10/23/11 and I/we had the chance to try the French Press Coffee service offered at 3 different restaurants.

2 out of 3 were not bad, I will go from worst to first:

Yachtsman The worst.

The biggest disappointment in French Press Coffee service ever! It was the weakest, sour pot of brown colored water I have EVER had! I would have rather had the Nescafe`sludge that is served around WDW. Yes I am a coffee snob, but when French Press Coffee is available it will generally get you a good/decent cup of coffee. With the plunger fully depressed after we choked down the pot you could see daylight between the plunger and the bottom of the pot!!!! Not a sliver of light, about the thickness of a #2 pencil! All the server could tell us about the coffee it was Joffrey's not where it came from or what blend. (Servers name for FYI was Vicki)

Wave A great runner up!

We had the breakfast buffet on our last day and our server (servers name was Jim from Orlando) told us it is the server that prepares the French Press Service for you. So depending on the server is how strong or weak your French Press Service will be. That morning at the Wave they were serving Joffrey's Sidamo and it was a very tasty treat. Jim made a great pot of coffee since he likes it a bit strong himself.

Kona Cafe` The Winner!

The service we had at a late lunch was very marginal, we had 3 different cast members wait on us so I can't even tell you who made the best French Press Service for us. As in the name of the restaurant they serve 100% Kona Coffee with the French Press Service and a Kona Blend for regular coffee service. So if you want the real deal get the French Press Service. This was actually our first French Press Service of this trip and it turned out to be the best. If you have not had or tried Kona coffee it is a well balanced cup not to acidic not to sweet it is just right.

What we have learned

Thanks to CM Jim from Orlando at the Wave we learned it is your server that prepares your French Press Service. So if you like a strong cup of coffee be sure to mention that to your server when you order French Press Service.

Are there any other restaurants in WDW that have French Press Service?
Please let me know so I can put them on my list even if it means just a visit for dessert and coffee.

I thought that Boma's French Press wasn't bad. I have no resort comparison for reasons that I cannot explain. I can't remember why I did not order a French Press when we were at Chefs de France. However, DW worked in a coffee/cigar shop for a bit early in our relationship and liked it very much when she ordered it instead of a regular old cup of coffee.

Thanks for the reviews!

DW always gets French press coffee at Narcoossee's. She's enjoyed it every time (5 years in a row, so far).

Glad to learn the locations of some French Press coffee. I am a coffee snob as well...finding a good cup of coffee in WDW can take some effort.

Thanks to those of you that have made suggestions for other French Press Service!

Your welcome to the rest.

Good coffee is hard to find at WDW and French Press can give us coffee geeks our needed fixes. I hope to add some of the coffee kiosks that have real espresso machines on our next trip.

Keep the suggestions coming!

I'm working on my xmas wish list and found this:

http://www.amazon.com/Bodum-Double-W...hu-rd_add_1_dp

and it made me think of this thread It's a travel mug, it's a french press! Although I don't know if I'd want to lug it all around Disney-it says it weighs over a pound, dry.

Got one as a gift and it is pretty good. You are correct that lugging it around Disney would not be a good thing. We start the day with a pot of coffee from our Chemex and put the delicious goodness in disposable coffee cups to take to the parks to start the day. I used to bring my coffee into the parks in my Tervis Tumbler but it takes up room in the backpack.
