The Adventures of Duffy - Duffy Visits Toronto, Eh!

“Canada! Big! Wide! And very, very cold! Here in the great white north, it snows 24 hours a day, every day of the year! Its frozen landscape is dotted with igloos – homes for the vast majority of Canadians!”

Ok, ok, so perhaps the aforementioned statement isn’t entirely accurate. Some of you may remember me from my Walt Disney World trip report from earlier this year. For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Duffy! I recently returned from a two-week trip to the eastern side of the continent. I’d love to share some of my pictures and experiences from my trip to the Toronto area of Canada as well as my week-long return trip to Walt Disney World.

My journey began on Friday, September 2nd at San Francisco International airport. I hopped on a red-eye flight to Toronto Pearson International Airport.

I landed at YYZ bright and early in the morning on Saturday the 3rd. Although I was able to catch a few Z’s on the plane, I was pretty tired. It was still only in the wee early morning hours back at home.

I stayed with relatives for the week – in a suburb in the surrounding Toronto area. All of the houses were brick, and boy were those big, red, rectangular igloos gorgeous!

I spent the day catching up with family that I hadn’t seen in years. They helped me plan out my sight-seeing agenda for the week. Among the highlights of the week are the Canadian International Air Show, CN Tower, Niagara Falls, and Casa Loma.

The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) was wrapping up its final days the weekend that I arrived. I decided to go and check it out on Sunday. Held in Toronto, the final days also featured the Canadian International Air Show. I had a great time watching the different planes fly by – the view was simply amazing!

I grabbed a seat on the bleachers that were set up by the water and waited for the fun to begin.

The Show kicked off with the singing of the U.S. and Canadian National Anthems. Shortly after, the the planes started flying!

There were lots of people in attendance. You can see a plane off in the distance in the center of this picture:

I forgot to mention that it was overcast that day. The rain kept threatening to come, but we never got more than a few sprinkles (at least while I was there).

After a while, I decided to check out other sites in the area. I headed over to Ontario Place to check out the view from there.











I then walked over to the grounds of the CNE. I was quickly reminded of the State Fair back at home. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures at the CNE... Sorry!

I explored the CNE for a bit, then decided to call it a day.
