Default Beerfan and sherryberry at OKW!

Who: Kenneth (beerfan) and Sherry (sherryberry)

Where and when: Old Key West Sunday night (5/15) thru Saturday morning (5/21) and then to Doubletree Suites for Satuday night (5/21)

This will be our first trip report and we will both try to contribute. We don't own a camera, so pictures will be taken with our iPhones and uploaded via Photobucket.

We got kind of a late start getting on the road. We said goodbye to job #1 on Friday afternoon and didn't look back. Job #2 kept us here a little later than we planned. We got our dog (sweet, little buzz) situated in his boarding facility yesterday and then concentrated on getting our stuff packed. Worked pretty late last night and didn't get to bed until about midnight. We woke up at 4 AM (man, was that rough!) and finished packing up and loaded the car. Went by work to take care of a few more things and then hit the road! We're looking at about a seven to eight hour drive

The only ADRs we have booked for this trip are:
Boma on Wednesday night at 8:15
Crystal Palace on Friday morning at 8:20

We have a buy-one-get-one coupon for Big River, so we'll probably head over there sometime. We also have gift cards for Rainforest Cafe, Red Lobster, and IHOP, so we'll probably hit those places because it's already paid for!.

Some other places we may eat at on the trip:
Biergarten - Kenneth really enjoys this and the last time we ate here, we had no problem getting seated
House of Blues - happy hour is a great deal (1/2 price appetizers and drink specials)
Earl of Sandwich - we hear so much about this place and have never eaten here!
Portobello - never eaten here either and we want to try the meatball bar
The Wave - looked at the menu here numerous times, but haven't had the chance to try it...and Kenneth needs to try the organic beer flight here

We're hoping to get to OKW before three and hopefully the room will be ready. We sure could use a nap when we get there - but I'm not really against taking a nap in the car if I have to! Our plan is to go to EPCOT and see the flowers and possibly Magic Kingdom before bedtime. We're not really too good at sticking to plans, though. We're more of a go-with-the-flow kind of couple and if the flow says take a nap, then guess what we're gonna do.

More later.

So true and we love EofS and try and eat there at least once each trip. Have a great time, Sherry & Kenneth. Enjoy OKW.

WE MADE IT!!!

We just checked in at Old Key West. They're quite busy right now and everything is so noisy, but it didn't take us long at all to get checked in. And the rad part is that our room is actually ready! So, no waiting for the text message that we always get after we're already settled in our room and no napping in the car!

We are in the 37 building, overlooking the golf course. I don't remember ever staying this deep within OKW. We are in a studio, top floor. Here's the room:

And here's the view from our room:

Very peaceful...we can just go outside and take a deep breath.

The decor in this room doesn't feel very Disney to me, though. I haven't found a hidden Mickey yet - but maybe I'm getting kind of crappy at finding them.
