Default Thanks, Mouseowners!!!

I just spent the most enjoyable evening with a bunch of very friendly Mouseowners at a Grand Gathering hosted by Colorado Belle and JiggerJ at Boardwalk. I knew absolutely no one there and was very uncomfortable about attending. My anxiety didn't last very long as everyone was so welcoming.
most of the people there hadn't met either and the fact that we all had DVC in common instantly broke the ice. I can't tell you how intimidated I have been by these boards. It seemed to me that everyone knew everyone else but me. The screen names particularly threw me as some people used folks' real names in their posts and i often felt like i was on the outside looking in. Pure paranoia on my part. It was so much fun to associate faces with names and to hear the story behind everyone's screen names. Mine is my initials, by the way.

I write this to say thanks to Mouseowners.com for providing a forum to bring DVC members together--whether online or in person--and to encourage others who might have been shy to open up and join in....and to sy thanks to Colorado Belle and JiggerJ for organizing a fantastic evening!!!

John, I'm glad that you had a great time!!! I hear you about sometimes being intimidated - I never 'knew' most of the people here until I was invited by JiggerJ. In fact, I think that I only had 'conversation' with two of the members of this site before joining. Somehow the smaller group became more intimate on this website, maybe due to the still relatively small membership. But I hope that newcomers won't be intimidated by the fact that many of us now 'know' each other.

I have had the opportunity to meet up with some people I have met online over the years, and some have become very good friends. I agree that if one has the opportunity to do so, it can create some new relationships and memories.

Hi, John --

I'm sorry you've felt intimidated by the boards and occasionally excluded. We started here with a small group, and as a result we can sometimes appear a little more "cliquish" than we really are.

But, I'm really glad you had a chance to meet some MO folks; and, with your newfound level of comfort, I hope we see you posting here even more frequently!!

Hey John! So glad you had a chance to go and meet up at the MO gathering. I have only met one other person on here, and had a blast! It is always nice to meet a group of people that share the love of Disney. Come join us on the nothing thread on the Community Hall----that goes for everybody, everybody is welcome, just come and jump right in. It is what I did, and so glad I did!!

btw, my dream is to live in Celebration!!!

John,

How wonderful that you got to meet some of our members! What a fun night that must have been! I know that I haven't met anyone in "person" yet but have really become aquainted with folks here by spending time on the boards. I completely understand how intimidating it can be....but it sounds like everyone is even nicer in person!!! What a great testament to MouseOwners!!! So glad you guys had fun!!!

John,

I have not met anyone from MO in person, so you are one up on me.

Sit back and settle in.
