Well it is a good night for me. My U8 coach pitch baseball team just laid it on the 2nd place team tonight. We pounded them 13-2! It was sweet. We started out 0-2 and now we are 4-2-1. It is so gratifying to see your team improve like this and to have the full support of the parents.

Now hockey? Really? It's baseball season my friend.

Enough Football Talk
My goodness...get on with it already. You're talking about the draft and free agents and bar drunks and...football is not back for four plus months.
There is no bad time of year to discuss America's REAL pastime and favorite sport - Football !!!

Congrats on the thrashing of a bunch of 8 yo's !
(that sounds bad, but thats not my intent, but how else would you define a 13-2 victory?)

The NFL has indeed done a good job of making football a year round sport when it comes to fan interest. And for some teams (like the Seahawks lately) the off-season is more enjoyable than those games they play later in the year.

Personlly I don't see Chicago improving much at all since they kept Cutler and are still in the same division.

We definitely have our work cut out for us in our division - heck even the Lions are getting better, not to mention the Pack and Vikes.

May not translate into wins, but I'll roll the dice with Cutler if for no reason other than to see someone that can throw deep (ok - so we may not have anyone to catch it, but .........) for the first time in my life.

Clearly the previous statement is football stupid as wins should be the goal, but I simply can't take another year of 2 yard runs on 1st and 2nd down, followed by a 4 yard 3rd down pass hoping the receiver can get the final 2 on his own.

In terms of the NHL - GO HAWKS. Admittedly I'm not much of a hockey fan, but after surviving the scare from the Preds hopefully they'll kick it up a notch.

Sorry Bob...I'm with Mike and Pluto Fan...I can talk football year round! As for hockey, well being from Alabama, I'll let you guess how much hockey talk occurs around here.

Dave...congrats on your team's victory. My team is 4-2 (DS7). We had been winning our games by an average of 6 runs a game leading to a 4-1 start, but got pounded 17-2 in our last game. Yes, 17-2! It was one of those games where everything went right for our opponent, and nothing went right for us. We play tonight, so hopefully we'll bounce back.

My DS10 team is struggling...1-7, and not really improving. I told him all you can do is go out and give it your absolute best every game.

If that's the primary skill Bears fans are looking for they can do much better than Cutler. His best skill seemed to scambling, not accuracy, and the lack of accuracy only hurts you more the farther the ball travels down the field.

But in general Cutler appears to be one of those players where the ability is completely tied to confidence level. One of the primary things turns fromally awesome QB's into busts once they reach the NFL. His confidence has been so shot to hell that I don't think there is any return to the guy they thought they received. He's one fragile dude when it comes to the mental side of the game.

I guess when you have nothing else to be excited about it's cool to talk about the fear of the unknown...

Dave...I will agree it's baseball season but it's the Stanley Cup Playoffs!!! Familiar terms equal World Series, Super Bowl, Mythical National College Football Championship...

GO PENS!!!!

Gosh I hope not, would be devastating if the first "real" quarterback we've had in my lifetime is just another bust.

Only time will tell,

Chris

You should get passed Montreal, and I feel the Flyers are ready to take on Boston. But after that I'm not taking any bets.

Detroit in San Jose tonight should be great. I think they can take them.
