Default Sawickipedia is Going to Disney World! (Pics posted)

The family and I fly out tomorrow - we just started packing. We will be there thru the 31st. DW, DS (13), DD (14) and I head out. My kids are *INSANELY* excited since they are just sick & tired of just handing out at home. My wife is finalizing our custom Disney-themed masks (as mentioned before she has been making custom masks for folks since the start of quarantining and such).

Starting the TR thread.

It's our first summer trip to WDW. Originally it was supposed to be a 4th of July big extended family trip (now T-Day this fall) so instead of cancelling our portion we just moved it back.

One thing that is different we aren't telling anyone about where we are going because we just don't want to hear about it from folks who think we are going to kill Grandma by traveling. As others w/ recent TRs have noted - we weighed the risks and aren't that concerned with the Disney bubble. No inside restaurant eating, even at WDW, for us.

Have fun!

We just returned from our first summer Orlando trip and we were really worried about the heat and humidity (I'd sworn we'd NEVER go between mid-June-September). It ended up being surprisingly manageable even with masks. No crowds & lines certainly helped and counterbalanced the heat & masks for us.

Totally agree about the judgment and virtue signaling.

Thanks! And the same thinking about FL in the summer BUT given we have had 4 days in July with a high temp below 70 the entire family is ready for some 95 degree weather. Last week I took a screen grab of the temperature when it was freakin' 57 degrees at 1p in the afternoon in the middle of freakin' July. Too damn cold. Bring on the heat!

Not Disney, but spent 6/26-7/21 at MarriottVC Properties in Orlando and HHI.

Was grateful for the change of view and being able to walk a different path in the afternoons.

We social distanced
Always wore mask in elevators or inside spaces other than villa
Wiped the villa down
Prepared our own meals or Chik. In bluffton tried a burger place and the meat was spoiled. Lots of old food in restaurants after reopenings and some are not trying to do the right thing.
No public restrooms unless absolutely necessary. My new bathroom mantra is ďtryĒ. Sfsg 😂
Gloves and masks at Gas stations
We checked our pulse/ox and temp daily. We created our own bubble and stayed in it.
Only shopped at Costco in Orlando and Kroger in HHI
We enjoyed the resort amenities, pool, hot tubs, grills, beach, view.
Oh, and the extra AC was lovely and gave new meaning to Netflix and chill!!
Stay safe and enjoy your time away!!

Have a wonderful trip & enjoy the low crowds!!! We returned last Saturday. You will walk onto everything except HS is a little busier but still very manageable. Everything is super clean & we managed pretty well w/ the masks. ENJOY those low crowds!!!

I get the not wanting to tell people about the trip. My 73 yo mother pre-emptively yelled at me about WDW opening to dissuade me from a trip I havenít even planned yet.😆
