Default 100 Point Minimum for Benefits Effective 9/17/2019

Many people are saying their guides are confirming that it will now take 100 points purchased direct from Disney to qualify for direct benefits. As always, previous purchasers are grandfathered in. This change will take effect September 17th, 2019. I'd expect a new "notice" any day now. Then again, maybe there won't be any notice, and it'll just go into effect on the 17th. Who knows?!?

Default New 100 Pt direct Pt minimum for member benefits

Lots of reports from guides today after they had a meeting. Coming Sept 17th it'll take 100 direct points to get the Blue Card. Grandfathering occurs for 75 point owners at that time and all others already grandfathered in.

Making it easier and easier to justify resale is how I see it.

Default 75 to 100 for Blue Card Direct

Many confirmed guide reports that on September 17th, the buy-in for member benefits will be raised from 75 to 100 points. Plus 100 pt new minimum for new member buy-in at RR. So many thoughts...

Thanks for the heads up. What the minimum direct purchase now? I'm assuming 25 points for someone who purchased resale, but what about a total DVC newbie? Is it 100?

Personally, I'm less concerned about who gets benefits than about the increase in small point contracts and they pressure they put on studios.

So effectively a price increase which I’m sur will be the companion piece to this increase.
Get your VB and HHI direct now if you are inclined.

I said this elsewhere, but I find if my expectations are low with this current management, then I’m rarely disappointed. I don’t expect DVC/DVD to look out for me. I expect that they’ll try to make money since they’re a business. This is just another extension of that.

Why be annoyed at Disney mgmt for this? It's likely if you're here then you already have your blue card -- or, you'd made the decision not to acquire one. If you have one, you're grandfathered in. If you were on the fence about buying 75 direct to get the perks, you can do that now because you know in advance. It just became more exclusive to get a perk that we already have. That's good. People will buy 100's instead of 75's. Also good.

Personally, I’m not annoyed and didn’t mean to come off as such. I just see it as another money grab by them, but they’re a business. Executives wouldn’t be doing their jobs if they didn’t try to make more money. I don’t see it as “good” because I’m not currently fighting for studios where the low points are more of an issue. I see it simply as a money grab which leaves me ambivalent.

Empathy?

I knew should've bought those 25 points I wanted way back when that was still an option. By doing this (and the 75 before that) Disney has actually decreased the likelihood that I buy more points from them. The savings on resale only increase as the number of points you have to buy increases.

Perhaps this is what you are saying, but doesn't this actually push in the other direction? A higher minimum for perks (and perhaps for purchases, I'm not sure), would actually increase the average contract size and, in turn, somewhat lessen the pressure on studios.
