Exclamation Increase in HHI ROFR....

Disney just took mine HHI contract. I was seller.

Stripped contract with buyer paying all and no pts till Dec 2020 at $73/pp

Looking at ROFR data from ResalesDVC they lost 3 contract as well. My broker lost 3 contract as well.

Any one has any idea why so much ROFR for this tiny resort?

Having just returned from HHI I can tell you that it is in bad shape right now. I know it is scheduled for a refurb, but maybe they are going to totally gut it (as they should do), thus maybe it will increase the sales price and demand.

We have one going through ROFR right now as well . Recent data and our broker both point to heavier than usual Disney ROFR right now for HHI .

We are the seller as well, and not the buyer . We sold for $74 PP , with a few 2019 point left ......not many . Just enough points for a little incentive to buyers over other contracts for sale.

Not sure if it will be taken by disney or if it will slide though ROFR for the buyer .

We are not happy with the direction Disney is going (and DVC) , and we are getting out while the "getting is still good" so to speak . HHI price point is at a high point for resales , and I am gambling its not going to get too much higher before the bottom drops out .
Just happy to be rid of those insane annual fees at HHI ! $8.56 PP right now . In a year or two, I am envisioning it passing $10 PP .

We are still holding on to an AKV contract for a while .........

On the flip side ........Poly looks like a safe bet for a good deal . Disney is not even touching those lately !

MF on all timeshares are going up so are other fees. I was trying to buy Marriott and gave up after all calculations. I guess I can rent with very little extra money and no worry for MF if I am not going for those yrs.

They can gut without owning, members will pay for it. May be they are up to something else.

I would love to sell my 160 points I bought 21 years ago. Wish I knew back then what I know now. All BC and BW it would have been.

I tour the HHI Marriotts every year but I canít pull the trigger.
Just too much money. The Marriotts on the Island are beautiful totally refurbished and most are located on the beach.

But I travel in the off season and I can rent those weeks for $1k or less in a 2-3bdr villa. So I will just pay cash to stay at Marriot Hilton Head and book a night at Disney to visit when we have little ones in tow.

Iím working with a realtor to buy a retirement home and prices seem to be down on the island.

We own HHI points and had listed them to sell over the winter and got no bites for like 2 months and then that Jan 19th restrictions thingy was happening and we got some offers the week before. But super duper low offers so we declined and then pulled them off market to sell our OKW instead. Here's why...

1) the OKW was 200 whereas our HHI was 50, 50 and 25...so one sale sold more points.

2) we wanted to sell off 200 of our points because we also don't like where Disney/DVC is going with all their negative changes (high dues increases, point chart funny business, AP cost increases, taking away of TOTWL for July 4th for owners there, resale restrictions...).

3) also not been having great trips to WDW with lines, chaos, crowds and strollers/wagons/scooters and dogs everywhere. Hated losing our fave adult signature to character meal and more going that direction. We are empty nest and feel there are other places we can better have our adult style vacays where we can eat and drink in calm serenity. EDIT TO ADD: also all the preplanning has taken some magic out of WDW trips. And the IT difficulty in doing the preplanning.

Now the lightbulb went on for us and we decided to use DHHIR more now and WDW resorts less. Next year, 2020, we have HHI booked and a cruise booked but no plans to go to WDW. We were going to do F&W as we have been going every year since 2013. But now we're looking at a second cruise. Probably will fit in another HHI trip as well...in fact we're looking at buying a quarter share there so we can go a lot.

But basically I wonder if many other folks are also planning to use their DVC at the beach resorts now more and maybe adding on small contracts there to secure some nights at 11 months out and then using their 7 months points to book the weekend nights.
