Default New credit card charge policy at wdw resorts

https://wdwnt.com/2019/01/breaking-n...ary-27th-2019/

I am not sure if this has already been posted. I always use a credit card not my debit card. What does pitting on hold means .?

Guess we will be going to front desk every day with our gift cards so they aren’t charging us every single night. Just another little change that makes you feel more like a financial transaction and not a guest

I would not like a hold out on my debit card. Would that mean that monthly payments could not continue such as pose or cable bills?

No, a hold on your credit card basically places a “claim” on your available credit. For example, if you had a $3000 credit limit, and Disney put a $250 hold on, you would not be able to make purchases exceeding $2750. They are “locking in” their ability to charge a certain amount to the card at a later date/time. Rental car companies do this also. As was stated, I wouldn’t put a debit card down for this purpose. Just decline and pay as you go - no charging to magic band.

Well even before they would “hit” your card any time you exceeded a threshold- the article states $500-$1500. We were at AKV in 2017 and I went to the front desk to ask about it as we wanted to use gift cards. We didn’t charge much to the room, but I stopped by when we did and paid the balance. This is not much of a change IMHO and protects them from guests exceeding their credit limits or available balances (debit) and them having to try and recover the money after the fact.

We have never once put a charge on a room. Instead, we simply carry a credit card or gift card with us. I feel like I can monitor spending so much better without charging. LOVE receiving that zero balance check out sheet without having to bring my gift cards to the front desk.

Article just talks on hold not on actual charge. So still you can pay a day before checkout with GC.

I appreciate the heads up, but it won’t affect our current practice.

It's a normal industry practice. I'm surprise Disney took this long to do it.
