Default Whispering Canyon - No More Ketchup Fun?

Looks like WDW is killing the shenanigans at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Very unfortunate. Article states this is the result of "multiple complaints".

Ugh.....

I can see both sides...I want the fun there.
But for families with really sensitive kids, I get it.

I think this is a 80/20 formula again

20%of the guest complain 80%of the time.

Makes me wonder who is doing the complaining, the staff or customers?

This makes me kinda sad.

People need to lighten up!

What can a person complain about with regard to this type of silliness?!?!?!?! If you don't want this during your meal, eat somewhere else!

I'm so tired of everyone bowing to the complainers.

Maybe I need a nap.

What's next? Are they going to start letting you eat with your elbows on the table at the 50's Prime Time Cafe?

It's worse than you think. From the *other place*

Effective Immediately:
. . . no more yelling by waitstaff (like for water or ketchup)
. . . no more tossing of straws onto the table
. . . no more throwing or waving of napkins
. . . no more "broomstick pony rides" for the little kiddies until after 10:00am

I will never go back, and this upsets me so much that it makes me want to jettison my BRV points. It is one of our favorite places at Disney.

My family took some great videos of me doing "I'm a little teapot" a couple seasons back... =-

/DEEP BREATH

Ok, fine, I am overreacting. It was bound to happen where a change really upset me. It sure would be nice to know what actually happened. From other site rumors, it sounds like the new manager just didn't like that vibe so has wanted to get the fun jettisoned.

Default I don't get it

What is there to complain about? The atmosphere is supposed to be the point of eating there. I never had the opportunity to eat there but it was always on my list of to-do's with my family. My father would have loved it.

Oh well.

I can't believe 20% of the guests complain, that would actually be really high. That would be completely untenable. We are probably talking more like 1%.

I have also thought that perhaps the complaints are not from whispering canyon guests, but Wilderness Lodge guests. The noise is pretty famous.

I was visiting at WL a couple days ago. I did not eat at Whispering Canyon, but I did see something intended for use there. It was a large cardboard disk that had different colors, let's say green on one side and orange on the other. It was clearly labeled that one side meant you are willing to play along, and the other side meant you don't want to play in any reindeer games. The idea was that each table would have this disk and the guests could place it as they wish. I don't know if this is currently in use, will definitely be used in the future, or just a possibility.
