Default DME now 4 hours!!

WDW News Today is reporting that effective November 17, Disney's Magical Express will begin picking up resort guests 4 hours in advance of their departing flight out of MCO (no word if international flights will now be 5 hours).
They state the long TSA lines as the reason, but say they will re-evaluate after the holiday season.

So, 2 weeks ago when we were flying out at the ungodly hour of 6 am on a Sunday morning I kind of laughed at the super early (I think it was only 2 hours though) 4 o'clock-ish DME pick up time and told my husband we would just uber to airport. He was not happy with me - if he's on time, he's late. How many people can possibly be flying at 6 am on a Sunday morning, I told him??? Well, joke was on me... TSA line was 45 minutes long and we had to run to slip into the last 2 available seats on the plane. Probably tired of fielding customer complaints from missed flights

Wow - I would wonder, though, if this is a holiday issue and not something that will be long term. My wife and kids took ME back to the airport a few weeks ago and their pick-up was 2:45 minutes before the flight!

Not a holiday issue, an issue with the increased scrutiny at MCO security - many reports of each piece of candy/food being tested by TSA, with people bringing candy from the Halloween party really backed things up.

Maybe when Disney prints guests' boarding passes, they can flag those with TSA Pre-Check to allow them to board DME later.

We packed two bags of MNSSHP candy into one carry-on and went right through TSA Pre-check with no problems/no questions on Oct 23.

We had friends who flew home on the 27th who had every piece of candy from MNSSHP looked at when going through security.

We just applied for and received TSA PreCheck before our trip this month, the guy at the counter where we were applying was saying that PreCheck was going to become a lot more valuable in the near future based on upcoming changes to security. I guess he was right.

If ME is still 4 hours the next time we go (which won't be for awhile, going somewhere other than Disney in 2018) we will Uber it to the airport for our flight home. With PreCheck we would definitely not need the extra time.

TSA precheck has turned into being one of the best things I ever bought. We got to use it this past year and both times, going and return, we were through the line in under 15 minutes.

Highly recommend it.

As someone whose home airport is O'Hare, there is something very wrong with MCO's security section. It makes O'Hare look good and MCO look foolish and annoying.

Aside from the personnel it hires, the TSA section needs to be completely MOVED to a totally different area or broken up into several areas.
Aside from ineptness, that security area is downright claustrophobic and 100% chaotic.

Yes, the faux 'monorail' needed updating but maybe the money spent should have been concentrated on the security area.

4 hours!!!

I wondered if it was just our local airport that was so much more efficient or what. We fly out of DCA.
