Default How long after closing DVC resale to receive membership #?

I closed on a BLT resale in September; the deed was recorded September 30th according to the Comptroller website. I'm still waiting to hear from Disney. Can anyone help me with....

(1) an expected timeline of when I should hear from Disney.
(2) HOW I should be hearing from Disney (i.e. snail mail, e-mail?)
(3) if I can contact member services to get the number (I see reports of people doing that successfully in 2014 but I'm not sure if DVC will still allow that)?

Thank you in advance for any help. I'm chomping at the bits to get a ressie going.

We closed on July 6th and received a letter (snail mail) from Disney on the 25th. The letter had our membership info so I immediately called Member Services, set up our online account, and booked our first DVC vacation for February.
I'm sure that there is some variation as to when Disney gets around to sending out the letters but I'd say you have about a week to go.

Congrats and Welcome Home!

I think they say 2-4 weeks when closing. Which was about right for me.

My first resale I got a snail mail letter that had my membership number, which I then was able to call and set up my account.

For contracts after that, it would appear in my account eventually, in that same 2-4 week window. It may take slightly longer if you're a brand new owner.

Ours took 1.5 - 3 weeks each. You can wait for the letter or call in and try to get your membership number (you may have to call a few times as most CM's won't give out this information). If you have an existing contract and membership, the new contract should show up automatically in your account when you login. If it matches an existing use year, it will show up under the same membership #. If it is a new use year, you will see an additional new membership # in your account.

Congratulations on your new contract!
Waiting to finally get access to your points is tough, especially after all the waiting you have already done. Hang in there, you are almost done!

Letter in the mail.

Absolutely you can do this, I just did it.

For me, I closed on 9/14/2016 and was able to call and get my ID on 9/24/2016 and my points were loaded on 9/25/2016 (Sunday)

I know my contract was loaded on 9/24 because I was also buying a small contract and my DVC rep Ricardo (who is phenomenal) contacted me on a Saturday and told me the contract was loaded the same day. I had called the day before, and it was not there.

They do not like, and very much tried (hopelessly) to discourage me from calling before my letter, but they were very polite and helped me out each time. If you wait 1.5 weeks, I imagine you can call member services and get setup. The letter is a little one page, unexciting, letter with your number.

Congratulations!

Congrats! We closed on 9/26. Our deed was recorded on 9/28. I called on 10/11 and spoke to 4 people before I was able to get my member number and therefore set up my online account. I received my member number letter in the mail yesterday so just a week later. You should get yours soon.

Congratulations. We closed on 10/11 and the deed was sent to DVC on 10/13. Then I spoke with members administration on 10/18 on how long it would take to put the points into our existing membership. They told me it should take about another week, but to my surprise the points showed up today. I am wondering if they give a conservative dates and surprise you. I've had three other contract that I called members administration and they seem to take care of it by next day. I don't know if it's by luck or the idea that squeaky wheel gets the oil.

On both of my resale contracts I called a week after it was sent to Disney and was able to get the membership numbers.

How did you know when it was sent to Disney? We closed today and I'm so excited .... I'm not sure I can wait 14 more days!
