I wonder if it will last now or be gone soon.

So, hopefully, it would not be a problem for OP.

That said, there is a phone number that is specifically for immediate G+ and ILL issues. That number is (407) 939-4357. I had to call the number each morning, but got through without a wait every time and was done in about 5 minutes. I preferred this to having to go down to the front desk, risk being behind others needing help, etc.
May I ask what time you were able to call and add Genie +? Heading down next week and some of our party purchased tickets with Genie + and some, myself included did not. Never occurred to me there would be an issue purchasing daily. From what I had read, AP's mixed with other ticket media seemed to experience this. I guess what I am asking is if the phone number is answered after midnight and before 6:45 am? I would normally not be awake after midnight or before 6:30 most days. Definitely will need a vacation after my vacation. And still wondering when we will eat and how to get to the parks early. However, glad to hear you were able to get though easily. Must be lots of issues for them to reverse this pre purchase option so quickly.

I believe this to be true. Rather than admit that itís a failure they will continue to try to tweak it. Instead of it being a helpful tool to the customers itís a major source of frustration and inconvenience.

I find it interesting that if you gather up the comments on our board here, it is a huge failure that they are trying to figure out how to end without losing face. Yet I was reading Food Blog who was basically quoting Disney as saying the demand and success of the product is high, with numbers ranging from 33 - 50% of guests purchasing it. Which doesn't sound at all like Disney is planning to shut it down any time soon.

Of course they aren’t going to admit it’s a failure this soon. I wouldn’t call 33-50% purchasing a resounding success. What % of those purchases are satisfied customers? The only way to know for sure is to see how many repeat customers they get.

I don’t think they will shut it down any time soon as they have way too much $ sunk into it. Disney IT is crap, they should fix it before they attempt to launch something this ambitious during a huge 50th celebration.

I will admit that the way I figure it, most of those purchases are probably from when people are looking at the Disney page, buying 5-day passes for their family, why not tack on an extra few bucks because Disney says you can skip the lines. Who wouldn't do that.

Despite the official Disney line that Genie+ is a stunning success, the reality is very different.

According to both the owner of WDWMagic and someone else with an inside connections, the guest satisfaction results for G+ is lower than Disney execs have ever seen before for.

Disney are seriously worried about their high value guests, those at the deluxe resorts, who are deeply unhappy with how Genie+ is working.

The number of people buying it is several orders of magnitude higher than they anticipated. (How they misjudged it is beyond comprehension). The reality is too many people are buying it and so itís not working as it should be. And they are refunding he cost to lots of guests every day. As much as 50% of those who buy it are being refunded.

In order to try and ďput out the flamesĒ, as of June 8th sales will be severely restricted. They are hoping this will increase the satisfaction ratings from those who do have it. Of course it will also increase the dissatisfaction amongst those who cannot buy it, including onsite guests, but they hope they can at least stop the complaints about the product itself and then slowly increase the number sold.

Meanwhile other changes are being considered and will be put to guests in surveys during the remainder of the year, with changes made early 2023. That way anyone who pre-buys it until the end of the year will still have the same T&Cs as when they bought it. * And at the moment they are going back to the drawing board to try and fix it.

* the flaw in that thinking is that I can currently buy tickets either as part of a package or stand-alone through the end of 2023, with Genie+ included. Which means that for all U.K., European and possibly other international guests will have the T&Cs changed from when they bought it, and Disney might well have to refund unhappy guests.

As others have posted before, bring back FP+ for purchase.
I still won’t buy it, but at least it worked.

Edit: However, given current crowds which seem to be Christmas year round, I’m not sure FP+ would work. It didn’t over that time period. Too many people.

This was a pretty extreme change. Dis must be getting sick of all the complaints, emails and refund requests. Again, genie+ worked ok for us, but I did hear some grumblings while we were there.
We've actually used it to great success. There are strategies towards which G+ lends itself, and if you use those, it can be very effective. The one major downside was the 7a wake-up every morning. Adding the midnight issue, all but ensuring the inability to get a decent night's sleep, it will completely suck.

Even worse, how pissed are people going to be when they stay up until midnight, only to not get in fast enough and find the passes sold out?!? If they limit it to the point where you can't reliably buy it at midnight, that would add a whole new hit to this system.

I think you can call any time after midnight. I know that I called around 6:45-6:50a, each day, with no problems.
