Yes, I don't get the blue card restrictions. I think it is confusing and unneeded. Really the only perk was the AP's and that isn't even a perk currently.
Direct by in minimums if you are not an owner

Vero, HH 75pts
OKW, Saratoga 50pts
All others 100pts

For the record I think it was a mistake to implement any of the restrictions and I think all owners should be blue card status. Itís just created chaos in the system. Canít unring that bell.
There were a few that were new membere purchases of 25-30 points. That comes from a couple of posts and also from those number people who scour the county website for sales. Not a ton by any means but there were some exceptions.

It's all a rule until the exception is made.

HGVC do not do this but, AFAIK, the other major TS companies do. Most hotel chains do as well. No elite benefits if not booked direct.

Cheers.
DVC and Disney were often trying their best to become more like everyone else.

Yeah. Industry practices seem to be consolidating over time. I don't know if anyone other than HGVC has no Direct/Resale differential at this point.

Cheers.

Has anyone confirmed this is still the minimums? Just curious.

Talk to a guide a few weeks ago as a friend was asking about purchasing.

Well no elite benefits with resale.

Also the activation fee is getting higher and higher. I remember when I first had to pay the activation fee with HGVC. It was $250 for all the deeds you wanted to activate. Then it went to $250 for each deed. Then last time I enrolled it was $250 for the odd year and $250 for the even year of each deed. So if you had an annual unit it was $500 or you could just activate either the odd or even for $250.

I meant after the announcement of 125 for perks. My guide is gone or I'd send them an email to ask.

Fair point, but even Direct folks have to buy a lot of HGVC points for elite. And those benefits are surely worth less than DVC benefits.

As to the activation fee, it is now $609 (trust me on this one ). However, this is not a benefit/perk but an apples-to-apples dollar comparison. Paying $609 to activate the resale is <<< Developer pricing.

Cheers.
