Thanks for posting the 2013 maps. It's great to see where each race would take the participants.

Any thoughts on whether the 5K stroller division is worth it?

We did the AK one last Oct and had a good time, but, if we'd stuck to the rules of "no running" we would have ended up swept simply because of the crowds in front of us. By running whenever there was space I was still able to see the sweepers behind us.

OB really enjoyed the lights and music in the very early morning and kept looking at me as if to say, "see, I told you it was morning!"

Go for it! I have never participated with a stroller but if OB enjoyed it why not. Who cares if your swept... you would have had a blast while you were there!

Enjoy!

But, I don't want to get swept just because there are people in front of me! Why pay for that? Especially when I'm capable of running faster than the sweeping pace and the only reasons I'd be getting swept are that there are too many people on the course and they decided to forbid stroller pushers from running.

Note: I was not the only stroller pusher running in Oct at that 5K.

Plus, getting swept with a stroller would be a nightmare in terms of keeping a toddler safe given the carts they were using in Oct.

Start farther up, run till they(cm) tells you to stop, go for it!

You said it was fun!

But, that's the whole point, they won't let you start anywhere but the back if you have a stroller with you.

It WAS fun, but I RAN. What I'm trying to figure out is whether to expect enforcement of this newer WALK rule. Because if they do enforce it then all of the strollers would have gotten swept on the AK course simply because of the crowds and that would not have been fun.

(I'm not actually sure how new the "walk" rule is. For the AK 5k in Oct there wasn't any information about walking during registration, but, when I picked up my packet it was written on several pieces of paper within it. The EP 5k for marathon weekend says "Stroller/Walk" division. So, is this a newer policy that they are slowly increasing enforcement of? Or, is this just a standard disclaimer and I'll be able to do at least some running?)

Also, any advice on the kids races? Would a 21 month old enjoy them?
