Default Hopeful renter looking for info...

Our family is interested in possibly renting BLT in January 2013.

I read in the general post about renting that the owner controls the reservation and that DVC will not speak to renters. My questions: how can we confirm the reservation is made? Can owners add park tickets and dining, or is that best done on our own?

BLT specifically... is the Lake view worth the upgrade? Not sure what the standard view is... parking?

Thanks all!

You do tickets on your own. The rentor has to do any dining packages you want. (We cook in the room and do very few ADRs so it's irrelevant for us.) They also arrange magical express. We're approaching our third time renting. It's still exciting! We rent from a WONDERFUL person and she sends us all the conversations she has with DVC concerning our ressie, like confirmation emails and letters. Get a good rentor and you won't have any problems. Everyone here is up to par if not better!

You can see your reservation on line once they give you the reservation number. You will need that. You can also ask to be on a three way call with member services when they make the reservation. Owners can add dining plan and tickets to your reservation. You may be able to save a few bucks by getting them on line. I and many here have used undercover tourist, they have a great reputation.

Standard view are low level rooms of parking or gardens. I would not count on being able to get a standard view room at this point. They go quick. Jan is low season so you may have a chance.

Good luck.

You are in the 7 month window so you won't get a standard view now. Lake views are beautiful, I would book your room asap. Ask for confirmation before giving anything more than your deposit, choose a reputable person from this board or Daddio dvc rentals.

In addition to the email confirmation the renter can forward to you, you can check mydisneyreservation.com.

We are renting for BLT (2 bdr lake view) Jan 9-15th. I got my DVC owner to book back this past Febuary--11months out, and the Standard view 2 bedrooms were out! Not sure if you're looking for a studio or suite...but I've seen others post about not getting their requested availability for BLT in January--some are on wait lists. Good luck!

There is a web site that you can confirm your reservation at, plus the owner can send you the initial Disney confirmation. Rent from some you are confident with though as an owner can cancel the reservation at any time up until you check in. Note that doesn't happen often, but can be stressful.

Owners are the ones that have to add Magical Express or the Dining Plan, you can't book those yourself, but you can make your own dining reservations. The owner can add park tickets or you can buy them yourself when you arrive.

BLT books up fast, so the sooner you book the better.
