My kids want to do Chef Mickey for NYE dinner. Ages 10, 20, and 23. We want to stay on the monorail loop or Wilderness Lodge. Any better suggestions? We will be in the room or top of the lounge for fireworks. I am not interested in any private party, way to expensive places. NYE day we plan to go to a park and head back to BLT by 6. Is that too late? Will the traveling be nuts?

For 12/30 we will go into Magic Kingdom and stay for fireworks. Was thinking of BOG for dinner possible but won't be heart broken if it does not happen.
We did Chef Mickey last NYE...me and DH and our twins-18 then. Was nice choice. We hadn't been there since our 2nd trip (1st trip with dining) in 2005. My DDs enjoyed it. DH and I liked the food but the theme-ing was a bit young, bright, loud, busy for us.

This is my 3rd year in a row spending NYE on a Disney property. Last year I went to Disneyland. This year I'm going with a big group but I can always sneak out to meet fellow MO neighbors. I will watch the NYE fireworks from TOWL (I don't have any inkling to to the parks that day) but I'm planning to go to the parks (01/01-01/04). I will make dinner reservations to California Grill and Yachtsman Steakhouse but I'm still deciding the dates.

Below my itinerary:

SOG: 12/30-12/31
BLT: 12/31-01/02
AKL :01/02-01/05
DCL-01/05-01/12 (7 days Western Caribbean)
Dolphin: 01/12-01/13

We were there 12/28 to 1/6 this past NYE and the crowds NEVER thinned out cause marathon weekend was 1/4-1/7 ish. The 2nd and 3rd weren't terrible. But this year I think there is a week between, no? The 4th through the 8th should be quiet. But NYE folks may be staying through to Friday or Saturday. Dec 31st and then Jan 4-6 was the busiest time we have ever seen...aside from Dec 25th one year we were there for Xmas.

The crowds will start thinning immediately on 1/1 but next year the 1st is a Thursday, so I would not expect any huge drops til after the weekend.

Welcome aboard! Funny.....I love that your kids want to do Chef Mickey at there ages.....gotta love it! There are a lot of excellent choices of dining on the monorail and WL loop. I do not think you can go wrong with any of them.

On NYE, you will want to be out of the parks by noon. MK and Epcot will be a zoo. DHS will still be touting TSL. AK might be your best best to escape the other crowded parks (I need a sarcastic smiley).

For traveling on those days, use the Disney transportation. It will be your fastest and most reliable to the parks.

Your plans for the 30th are great. If you want to watch the midnoght fireworks at the park, grab your spot early.....like before 10pm.

Added to the list.....Welcome aboard!

It is a great time of year to go, regardless of the crowds. I get pumped up just thinking about our trip.

Watching the fireworks from BLT is such a great perk over NYE. Cali Grill will hold a private dinner on the 31st. Parks are doable on all days, you just need to be there at rope drop and use your fastpasses wisely......and be gone between 10-11 am.
