Subcontractors bother me. Can't wait until the house is on ME and not them. Insulation failed inspection today. "We'll be ready for a re-inspection tomorrow" Get home tonight and find all sorts of issues. "I'll reschedule the re-inspection for Friday so you can sort everything out tomorrow"

Drywall should start Sat or Mon though.

Sounds like completion Fall 2018 to me. At least you have rocking chairs.

Seriously though, so sorry. . How hard is it to install insulation?

Glad you got the power back Amy!

Brian and Dave, we nixed the Brazilian Steakhouse! I reminded our little man that my parents used to take me to Burger King for my birthday, so at minimum we need to meet somewhere in between . We went to Outback. Food was OK, but it was nice to get out. He did, however wind up with a new bike out of the deal. He hasn't gotten a bike since Christmas when he was 8. And he never used it, first because he was always running around to sports, and then by the time he got some time to use it, it was too small. It was at the point he was borrowing DD10's bike, so we had to just get him one. Ran over to Walmart, and got him a mountain bike. He was very happy with it. Finished the bday with a birthday donut! So, it was a good night for him, and my wife got to make it to Back to School Night at his new school. She lives for that stuff

Anyway, the Brazilian steakhouse he wanted to go to is Fogo de Chao. Brian, it's in the new King of Prussia Town Center. It's good, but not $50 per person 12 and older and $25 per person 7 and older good. There's a salad/market bar option, but that's $27. Throw alcohol on top of that and there's no chance you're getting out of there under $200 for my family. My kids (and wife) don't eat enough for that!

Allow me to say... I LOVE BRASIL!
Ok... more correctly, I love visiting and eating in Brasil.
The last time I went (too long ago) I went out with Brasilian colleagues many times. As I recall, the one steakhouse we went to was about 20 Reais. The salad/market/pasta bar was included, of course. Then there was the beer, and the caipirinha. More than one beer as I recall, since we were there for a good 3+ hours. Naturally, the bill was a LOT more than 20 reais per person by the time the evening was over. The good news was that an evening of delicious food and drink cost about $20 USD. Had a little bit of sticker shock at the one I went to in the US!

One of the most amusing parts of dinner was the translating. I was in Indaiatuba, which is more or less a small town a couple hours from Sao Paulo. Not a lot of english-speaking people there, except my Brasilian colleagues, of course.

The servers would come to the table with a skewer of meat and ask, in Portuguese, if we wanted some of whatever it was. Naturally, we (my Korean colleague and I) would ask what IT was. Now, these are people who speak English very well for the most part. However, they all were apparently absent on "parts of a cow" day in English class.
"What is this?"
*blank stares*
*looking at each other with blank stares*
*looking for a picture of a cow to point*
"ummm.... beef... "

Apparently harder than one would think.

Drywall was delivered today.
The drywall guy said 2 weeks to hang, and 2 weeks to finish.
The good news is that gives me a few weekends to do other things, like design and get started on some cabinets.
Yeah, thatsa lotta drywall. Glad I'm not moving it!

Mentioned to DH about steakhouses. Apparently most of the bull semen (yes, you read that right) that they ship from Canada, and they ship a lot of it, is to Brazil and area. So, two questions....

Do Brazilian cows say "moo eh?"

And most importantly, how do you collect bull semen..and would you want the job?

I'm curious to know what uniform one must wear in that job, Kelly.

Naw. I've made cabinets before. Just need to "design" them as far as the fitment to the width of the kitchen goes.

The best news is that my tools will be coming home from storage sometime soon!

No interest in collecting bull semen here...

Hooray for drywall, Dave. Hope insulation passes inspection. Ugh. Good story on the steakhouse, haha. I'm sure your colleagues enjoyed your reactions...
