Very sad. I love Cozumel. I hope Cozumel is not effected. We have been there twice. One of my favorite places. I hope they get it investigated and opened back up. It is a beautiful place and lovely people.

Wow. I had no idea this area had become a problem spot. Very sad to learn this.

From what I hear yes... and it's creating some issues as everyone is now doing the same things!

I am heading to Mexico next month. In spite of Disney's reaction I figure the most dangerous part of my trip will be the drive on the Atlanta roads to get to the airport.

Cruising next month with RCL to Cozumel. No email from RCL for any cancellation but we will avoid any excursion.

We're making our first Cozumel stop next February. I plan on taking a photography tour with a local through local neighborhoods, so I'm not worried about being swamped, but I've been wondering how many people head over the mainland. I know the major Mayan ruins in the area are there, but I can't remember how many other excursions head over that way (Maybe a water park, eco place?)

I think I heard Cozumel is the busiest Caribbean port and it's not uncommon for there to be 6 ships in port at one time, sometimes even more with some tendering. I think the passenger load on our visit day will be around 14,000. Yikes!

I have been a frequent visitor to Playa del Carmen for years. I used to feel completely safe there. I am having a hard time getting Mrs. Boundin' to go back now. And if she does go back, she will not leave the resort to go to town. It's probably still safer than New York, but that doesn't make you feel safe for some reason. It's a shame. We made some great friends there. I sent my daughter to Playa after Disney for her honeymoon and they treated her like royalty.

My Disney cruise for May 2019 was scheduled for a stop at Cozumel. We'll see I guess. I don't think I'll be driving around exploring the island in a jeep like the old days.
