![]() This last trip I used my smartphone almost exclusively. If course I have a fancy new LG G7 so the camera is awesome. I did pull out my super zoom 35x camera a couple times but not my DSLR.
Like you said, photographing everything takes you away from the moment. But I also have this desire to document what I do. My photos are automatically backed up to Google photos. Then I get these random "What You Were Doing 5 Years Ago Today" notifications. Good times. There's a happy balance between documenting and enjoying the moment. The trick is to find it. I have the same struggle when I Live Blog. If I'm having too much fun or am caught up in the moment, I will go days without blogging. But then I feel a need to catch up lest I forget what happened.

Phone cameras have come a long way. Of course, it is not the same as a camera with a much larger objective lens. However, everything is a tradeoff, and traveling light has its advantages. Also, unlike most cameras (but not all)... cell phone cameras always are set at the correct time, and automatically geotag each photo. That makes it much easier to find those photos you are looking for. /Jim

![]() Thanks Dirk... decided to stop in for a visit. I just banked my 2019 points and plan to take a trip in 2020. Probably during food and wine festival, but really have not decided for sure.
/Jim

![]() I see that this thread has been revived, so I will update it with my experiences since posting the original question.
Not carrying around my DSLR was fantastic! I doubt I will ever again bring my camera to the parks. Will I do PhotoPass again? Probably not. One and done for me. The only upside was having my entire family in the pictures. But between the four of us, we all were in some pictures. Wasn't worth the $169. I would rather spend that on a nice dinner in Disney Spring, which, on a unrelated note, is COMPLETELY WORTH THE TIME AND EFFORT! |
