Default Transport form Newark NJ to Times Square

.............Transport from Newark NJ to Times Square..............

I am planning non - Disney trip...GASP!?! What are my options for getting from Newark Penn Station to Times Square?

What are the benefits of UBER vs TRAIN vs a SHUTTLE?

if you suggest a shuttle, what company should I contact?

I will be driving to NJ for a separate trip and want to head into NYC to spend two or three nights.

NJ Path from Newark Penn to 34th street in NYC and change for subway uptown one stop or walk it. Good luck with public transportation, it can be quite an experience.

Yup. From Penn Station to Penn Station

We do this when we fly into EWR.

Cheers.

NJ Transit from Newark Penn Station to NY Penn Station (under Madison Sq Garden) takes about 20 minutes and costs $5.25 one way for adults.

If you won't be dealing with much luggage, definitely the public transportation route. Cheapest way, and probably the fastest. Just takes some effort that is easier and less overwhelming if you aren't lugging that much.

Otherwise, Uber/Lyft are probably the most economical for direct routing. Plan on an hour.

Download the NJ Transit app and you will see how things connect. Many people travel to the different airports via the public transportation.

Why were you specifically looking at Newark to get to NYC? If you're driving up anyway, is there a friend or someone else that would allow you to leave your car for a few days? If not, where roughly is your event?

When given the option, I drive to Secaucus Junction and take the train from there to NY Penn station. It's 4.25 each way on the weekend and then from there you can either take a 1/2/3 train uptown to 42nd street or walk the 8 blocks up 7th avenue without bothering. I to Secaucus because it's easy parking and there's only one stop on the way to the city and one it's the first stop on the way back, since all the rail lines go through there. But it costs $30 a day to park, so it's better to get a ride to the station and park elsewhere. Metropark has a garage that's only 10 bucks a day, but your train travel is longer and there is only one train heading down that way.

Also you could consider just driving into NYC and parking in a garage. You'd just have to look online at the rates to see which options weren't brutally expensive.

It takes only 20 to 25 minutes by train to get into the city.
www.njtransit.com and you will be able to see the train schedule.
Newark Penn Station to NYC Penn Station then trains 1,2,or 3 to Times Square.
I hope you find a good deal on parking for your car. I personally take the train to NYC. Haven't driven to the city since 2016 (after one Friday took almost 3 hours to drive over Brooklyn Bridge and Holland tunnel a total of 14 miles )

I can park at my friend's house in Newark and we will have just a small rolling suitcase. Im looking take a train or shuttle or something b/c I am brave, but not brave enough to drive in NYC ...plus it costs $80 million to park there. LOL...it will be me and my teenage daughter so we are looking for daytime options. I am pretty familiar with NYC and somewhat familiar with their subway system. We are looking to book a hotel somewhere in Times Square...
