Actually, Florida has given the green light to be less restrictive with covid protocols months ago. Statewide, Florida stopped mask mandates in September, locally there is still a mask mandate.

Our governor announced yesterday that an end to the mask mandate may be coming “pretty soon” during a press conference when asked. He said they would make an official announcement “pretty soon”. Also, when asked when he would expand vaccine eligibility, his answer was less ambiguous. He said they’d be opening eligibility to more people in March.

In anecdotal news, there are many appointments going unfilled now in TX. Some are due to no-shows and many are due to too many restrictions to sign up within the eligible tiers. As a result, many more of the vaccine providers here are now accepting ANYONE who is eligible rather than a subset based on age, zip code of residence, etc. Pharmacies started with only healthcare workers and expanded to anyone who was eligible quite a while back. Also, it was published yesterday that whenever Harris County has no-shows, they only call up teachers on their wait list who fall into the eligible categories. I like this as just being a teacher without a medical condition or under 65 doesn’t make them eligible, but hopefully that’ll change in a couple of weeks. I know many educators who’ve already been vaccinated, but it’ll be nice to cover all of them.

I saw advice here that I tried and it did work pretty well- use dish soap on the glasses - thin film and wiped off so as not to cloud vision. Makes sense since the soap prevents adherence of the breath. Have to do mine again

Our statewide mandate has been a political football between the legislature and the administration - and it has wound up in the courts on multiple occasions. Our current order expires on March 20, so I have no idea what will happen at that point.

Related, WI has seen a noticeable change in the trajectory of cases. After weeks of consistent declines, we have completely leveled off and even climbed a bit in recent days. Still too early to know where this will go, but it is disconcerting!

I honestly don't know what our regulations are here. Where I am, people wear them around other people. Some wear them when walking and far from people, some don't. There has just been compliance with common sense here for a long time, and probably will continue to happen even after common sense lapses into habit. There's certainly no harm in continuing to do so, voluntarily, after it's no longer scientifically necessary.

I do hope it will enforce a habit of more people wearing a mask when sick with cough/sneeze, as is done in many Asian cultures, on an ongoing basis.

Saw something recently (Times blog or CNN site) that the country, as a whole, has leveled off.

I have not heard anything here for mask mandate lifting. Ours seems to vary more from county or city on the outdoor part. Our state does say outdoors if not able to stay 6 feet away. No end date seen.

They are allowing proms, weddings, and fairs this summer they have stated.

Happy to say my T1D loved one got their shot. Let's just say same situation for us applied to them. The county had openings and they took it after all others were given a chance.

My next door neighbor got a vaccine because she took a family member to his appointment which was at the end of the day at a major vaccine event. They had no-shows and offered them to anyone there. She said people have tried to make her feel guilty about it. I told her that she shouldn’t because they would’ve thrown it away. She didn’t do anything wrong.

I agree!

One of our employees got their first shot yesterday, under the same circumstances.
