Has there been any scuttlebutt about the EPCOT DVC lounge, and whether it will remain open beyond 2019?

Having an air-conditioned place for a mid-afternoon rest during the Summer has become one of my favorite perks. It's amazing what 30 minutes of cool air, a seat, a cold Coke, and a pack of gummy bears can do.

And being able to pop off your shoes and put your feet on the seat next to you...

(Oh wait, did I just say that out loud...)

Cheers.

Gummy bears are long gone. Offerings are now a pack of 2 Oreo cookies or a tiny packet of Cheez-It crackers.

I wouldn’t expect DVC lounge to be around for long. AT some point, Imagination is going to have an overhaul, and the lounge area will surely be a part of that. The lounge is simply to give us a perk that doesn’t cost them much by using available space (and attract people to a mediocre pavilion - “Hey, maybe they’ll ride Figment if we give them an Oreo!”). When available space goes, lounge goes.

That said, I read somewhere of an expectation that the overhaul of Epcot would include space for a DVC lounge. Maybe in the new Festival Center? I know other parks don’t have DVC lounges, but it seems like we DVCers really pack it in to Epcot around festival time, so why not Epcot at least?

To be honest, Sunshine Seasons is usually my DVC lounge. We almost always stop there to chill a bit with a soda and maybe a piece of pie. It’s the only place I’ve been to a couple dozen times and never ordered a meal . . .

Ha, I used it often as my lounge before the lounge existed.

Still haven’t made it in there, so I don’t even count this one as a “perk.” I do like the Gold AP, but obviously there isn’t an actual perk that we can’t live without.

I've been thinking about this one - we're now visiting once a year for about a week, and on those years where the school calendar works out to do two trips 11 months apart, the Gold AP is huge. The most consistent benefit has been eligibility for the Tables In Wonderland card, though - we tend to sit down at dinner, usually have a drink, and often travel with friends/family. It's also good for 13 months, so we usually get two weeks of vacation on the card.
