Default It Goes Without Saying...

... but I'll say it anyway!
Keep checking your car rental for better prices.
I've neglected doing that, but just checked for an 8-day MCO rental on May 5, Alamo through Southwest.
I saved $150 and upgraded one class!

I don't think it goes without saying (so thanks for saying it) as many people don't.

There is no reason not to
  • Input your initial request for a quote through autoslash.com
  • Have autoslash.com track for you

No muss, no fuss and they do all the work.

Our 4-night WDW stay starting this Saturday is down to $69, total. And we don't do "upgrades" because they just take more gas.

Saved on a NoLA reservation for the following weekend ($66 for 3 nights) and Kona in May ($141 for 4 nights). And the latter two may drop further.

autoslash.com is the greatest thing since the interwebs.

Cheers.

Thanks for the rec on autoslash -- will check it out.
Ordinarily I would not be concerned with an upgrade, but this time there will be four of us (instead of a solo trip), and we need to have adequate trunk space! I'm strongly encouraging everyone to bring just one suitcase as I will, but....

Nice! We've only dropped $100 so far. I'm jealous!

I have no clue why, but they've never found me a better deal. Maybe I'm too picky on my car rental locations?

Our go to is Costco now. We do just rent whatever is cheapest though.

Yeah, with 4 the upgrade is nice. It's typically just two of us (and we only do carry-on), so the smallest is fine. For Kona we have 4, so I went for a mid-size.

autoslash is da bomb!

Cheers.

That's my fear. One time recently at Alamo the fullsize aisle was full of SUVs with just a scattering of sedans. As I've never driven an SUV I really don't want to rent one!

I have a 1-way rental from FLL to MCO over a 16 day period, so costs are significant. Started at $600. Booked when dropped to $450. Rebooked and checked in yesterday at $280. Not bad at all for 1 way over 2 weeks and 2 days.

Costco/Alamo rocks.

Incidentally, for some reason, booking through Costco kept crashing on me for these dates, so I took the Costco codes from the more expensive reservation and did it straight through the Alamo sites.

Costco still let me book for other trips, so I wonder if I got locked out of those dates for "too many changes" or something? At least I have Alamo's confirmation with all the information.

Dirk
