Incidentally, I've also found that if you fill a pitcher and let it sit for awhile, the odd taste dissipates. Not very handy for needing water right away, but it's not like the aroma of sulfur is eternally attached to your soul. Unless, well, you know.

It means it is probably Chlorine in the water which will dissipate with time.

Chlorine in the water can help oxidize the sulfur more quickly, but just exposing the water to air will do the same thing.
