Just a thought, maybe they are barging in so quick after knocking to try and catch someone doing something nefarious? To purposefully not give you time to react before they open the door? That's very conspiracy theory thinking, but who knows.

Our trips are usually just DH and I. We both walk around the room with nothing on while we're getting ready before/after a shower. It's fine if they want to do room checks, but I would still expect the common courtesy that if I'm in the room to be given a chance to at least cover up before they open the door and barge in, even if they don't wait for me to get to the door before opening it.

And for those it happens to and they end up complaining at the front desk giving them a couple fast passes for the "inconvenience" is a joke.

It seemed to us that there was a housekeeper stationed in the hall. They always came in - always took all the trash - never came while we were in the room but we always saw someone in the hall on our way out of the room who we'd greet as we walked on.

But I also donít like strangers barging into my room. The use of the latch will prevent that.
Ours knocked and waited both times. I'm more used to seeing a knock then wait followed by a second knock personally.

Those who know me know that I've posted very strong feelings about the policy, but I've reconciled to it. If it becomes a problem for us on a trip, I'll let Disney know and they'll deal with it with appropriate guest recovery and it will be fine. I won't go looking for trouble or wasting energy on fretting over what could go wrong.

I think the reports of found weapons are interesting. Since I absolutely don't believe Disney is snooping in drawers or closets, I can only assume that people are stupid enough to leave them lying out in the open. Maybe it's good those people get caught!

I noticed that daily Trash service is now just touted as policy in the DVC sales pitches, and I think it's written into the DVC literature.

It also sounds like my number one fear - guest disruption - is generally not happening, which is really all I cared about. There are always mistakes, but people aren't posting problems so I'm assuming they are very rare when they do happen.

Whether it's for security reasons or room-safety/guest-safety reasons, it's here to stay.

Good question, and glad to hear the responses.

Dirk

I wonder if any of this "policy" was also brought on by the Mousekeepers' union. Now that they're providing a daily service (albeit only trash removal), how many people will tip daily instead of waiting for the day 4 service? An opportunity for the Mousekeeper to make some additional cash perhaps

The people where I have seen don't seem to be mousekeeping. They are dressed in slacks and a shirt.

We stayed at the Poly 9/16-9/21 and did not experience any security checks during our stay while we were in the room .

So, how does the security guard union feel about emptying trash and not getting tipped for it?

Hmm. I wonder if I can tip the room checker (should I catch him or her) to go away, or if that would be considered bribing security enforcement?

Same for us. No mousekeeping for trash only for us.

Stayed at BCV last month, and I never saw or heard anyone, but the trash "magically" disappeared every day. I was rather nervous about some of the stories I'd heard about room checks since this was a solo trip and I didn't want anyone knocking, then barging into my room. Never happened. And I was kind of late to leave, early to return every day.
