I don't think this incident necessarily indicates that Disney is unprepared for an attack. On the contrary, I think that Disney, more than any other non government organization in the country, takes the threat of attack seriously.

Like you said, this incident is essentially "guests behaving badly". As unsettling as it was, it's realistically a minor incident in the larger threat picture for Disney. The response time to the incident seems to concern a lot of people and I'm not disagreeing that Disney can take measures to improve on that. However, I think that drawing conclusions to Disney's response to a motivated attack based on their response to a fight in Toon Town is not an accurate comparison. Here's why.

Security CMs are just that, unarmed security staff trained by Disney to handle things like unruly guests and fights. In the event of a motivated attack, say a shooting attack a la Paris, I don't expect unarmed security CMs to be rushing to the threat, because really what are they going to accomplish. Addressing an attack like that requires the highest level of weaponized violence aggressively moving to end the threat. If Disney's security plan does include this type of a response i promise it would look nothing like the video and it certainly won't rely on the use of security CMs.

Now assuming Disney does have highly trained and armed assets staged inside the parks, you can bet that no one will ever see or hear about it. Disney certainly won't tip that hand over a family fight in Toon Town. I can only hope that they really are there but to be honest i have my doubts.

Disney have proven that their security measures have had a deterrent effect as Omar Mateen scouted out Disney Springs for his attack but left and chose another target. I'm sure hoping that after that close call Disney has ramped up their measures even more. Some measures we see, some we don't. I can only hope that the stuff we're not seeing actually exists and is adequate, because securing Disney while keeping the magic at the same time is a monumental task.

Guests aren't worried about possibly breaking company policy for getting physical with a guest so i can understand why they would be a lot less hesitant to jump in. Also as a football coach that guest is probably very used to using physical force against another large human so he's probably a lot more comfortable taking on pink guy than the first security CM.

After reflecting on the video and various comments, I suspect that Disney's goal is to *not* inflame a situation in front of other guests, they may well think they handled this just right.

It seems that Disney's goal is to prevent further injury and get the problem makers off stage ASAP.

When you look at the video, the violence was so haphazard, that it would take multiple strong men to likely end it with a show of force, and sadly, that could also end in a situation where more harm is caused than simply isolating the individuals and getting them off stage.

The response might have been very different if red-shirt was going off at random strangers in a crowd.

While the video raises questions because we simply don't know what the policy and strategy are, we have opinions, and "everybody is an expert," Disney is also not going to tell us because they aren't going to give that information to others who might look for way to create trouble.

Also, I certainly can't make the leap that this incident confirms Disney has no security and is ripe for a terrorist attack. Good grief, their security executive are former NSA and FBI types. I think the lack of serious incidents shows that Disney knows *exactly* what they are doing and are very successful at it.

As ugly as this was, it's on the level of barroom brawl where nobody else was at risk and no weapons other than fists were in evidence. Anybody in the scenario was free to walk or roll away if they didn't want to engage.

You're welcome. Saw it on the KTLA 5 news this morning. I'm interested to see how they plead, which should be covered on the news this evening.
