Thank you for all that you do.
Isn’t there some grammar rule that you can’t use the word “scum” without also using “villainy.”

Thank you for all you do Kim.

I can't even imagine the work involved behind all this/to run/monitor a message board.

I am one of those clueless, computer illiterates........

anyone can answer.......what is the purpose of these spam registrations? Is it for advertisements? Steal information?.........just curious.......

Thank you again. Some days these boards are my therapy.....sad I know. I do love to let the time pass until the next trip. I do try to learn and remember new things/rumors, experiences, etc. Love seeing everyone's pictures/read reports.

Thank you again.

Basically, they are registering so that they can (1) get their ...interesting... websites seen in their profiles and signatures, and (2) post ad nauseam so that they can get their ...interesting... sites seen in said posts.

Most of said sites are selling illegal medication, offering to connect you with hot Russian women, and other things that, despite my imaginative and inquisitive nature, I'd rather not think about.

The pain involved for me is that I have to click through three different screens to delete each spam user. ("This is the user you want to delete? Are you sure you want to do this, Kim? Please acknowledge, since this action is irreversible.")

OTOH, I must say that this has provided me with even greater impetus to switch over to new software once our moving kerfuffle is over....

Good luck with everything. I hope the new site has better spam filtering. Ours had similar issues (though in our business we had others trying to sell their stuff on our work related forum too). It was a pain. Fortunately I found new software that really helped with the spammers. Went from hundreds a day to one or two.

I feel for you though... really do. Being a forum webmaster sucks.
