We went last year on a Friday in November and the crowds were terrible so the lines for rides and characters were very long. The parade was nice but the 'extras' were not. We prefer the Halloween party.

For us, the answer is yes just to enjoy the Christmas spirit. We go every once in a while but I don't think attending many times makes sense.

My boys will want to ride the rides. I am most interested in the Christmas Spirit and the parade and fireworks!

What should we expect as to crowds and lines?

You should do it at least once. My mini park boycott (due to constant outrageous prices increases ....jmho) is still on so our November trip will include two park days.... MVMCP and a day at Epcot for Food and Wine. The party tickets for us is a good value for a day at the Magic Kingdom

It basically comes down to are you buying a ticket for a day at MK on your trip. Dont forget as of last year DVC members can enter the park at 2PM on the party day that gives you 5 hours of park time BEFORE the party starts to enjoy at MK in addition to the entire party. If you would normally using up a day on your multi day ticket its a no brainer to do the party instead for $104.

If you are buying day tickets for your trip it might be. You'd have from the 2PM DVC entry time until midnight so 10 hours. And 6 of those will include party specialties.

The lines were somewhat shorter but being DVC members we utilize the FP+ with better efficiency then not having FP+ and going to the party. We got the t-shirts saying we went and it was a nice memory but I would have been happier spending our money somewhere else like a dessert party for fireworks or a couple of really nice dinners.
