Thanks for the work wishes. Offer finally came late this afternoon (first thing this morning, ha). Official start date is June 3 as requested. So notice shall now be given upon my return from Europe on Monday, May 20. Here we go...

Do you think you'll work from the 20th until the 3rd?

Yup, I’ll be there those two weeks since I don’t foresee them getting rid of me upon notification, but if they did, so be it. That said, we have Memorial Day in there already which is off. And that Friday, May 31, is John’s daughter’s high school graduation in Texas, so I’ll definitely be there now on another quick trip like this past weekend. So my last day of employment looks to be Thursday, May 30. Works for me...

Ha! I’d take that, too. By the time I leave it’ll be 16 years, worthy of a decent severance package... Of course if they can manage not to give me a raise they could likely find some kind of out for that as well. All the more reason to leave before they have such opportunity...

Still think it will shock the powers that be, though with everyone who already knows there could certainly be an inkling by the time I return if not sooner. But hey, I owe them nothing.

Excellent questions, all.

Hand is sore, as one might expect after the poking and prodding, and stabbing and smashing. They didn't close the incision, so as to let things heal from the inside out, and to prevent fluid build-up. I'll refrain from details and photos of how they do that, exactly. Appt tomorrow to take care of the rest of it.

Shoulder is doing very well. Still weak. A bit sore now and then, and moving boulders around for the rock wall I've been building doesn't exactly help with that, but overall it's just a matter of getting strength back, slowly but surely.

Anyone running on Saturday with your name connected to it?

Where I'm at, leaving for a competitor is an almost certain way to have your 2-week notice turn into an escort out of the building. Not sure how common that is in Brian's line of work. Leaving for a different industry is hit & miss.

I've been reading also, where the 2 week notice is becoming a thing of the past. The argument being that if a company can let you go without notice, do you really need to give them notice of your intention to leave?
