Would this be any guitar or a specific type?

If any, I was thinking it was a bass guitar in the buggles video.

You know.....Everytime I hear a song on the radio that was from the "classic" MTV era.....My mind immediately starts playing the accompanying video in my head.

Yep. The videos were such a part of the music! Some were really basic. But some, like Thriller, were almost inseparable from the songs. Walk Like an Egyptian, Karma Chameleon, Sledgehammer, Land of Confusion... all such fun!

They talked about it in the documentary, but I'd seen an interview years ago with the two of them where this was discussed. And FWIW, he is one of the most underrated guitarists, along with Elliot Easton.

The Cars are one of my all time favorite bands. I was heart broken when Ben Orr died in 2000.

What was the name of this documentary? I'm going to look it up to see if I can still get it.

He was a solid bass player and great vocalist. I think I liked more of the songs he sang vs. Ocasek.

Absolutely.....but like all great bands, it was a team effort regardless of who took the credit.

I find him an OK guitar player. I don't like him at all from a stage personality standpoint, having seen them several times. He should be a back man in the band and he tries to be out front too much.

And Rick Ocasek fairly recently.

Cheers.
