Default Fuel Rods

My small travel aux charger konked out. I like the Fuel Rod/replacement idea at Disney but should I buy it ahead of time to save a few bucks and get a NEW one whereas Disney's are charged over and over and over before I even buy it?

If bought ahead of time, can I still replace in the machines?

The whole idea is doing hot swaps, so the one you buy just goes off into the system!

I bought my first on-site a few trips ago because I forgot my own battery. I now travel with fuel rods only at Disney because they're so much lighter. Honestly, sometimes the rods are great, and sometimes you can tell they're old. I'm not sure it will matter if you buy it now or when you arrive.

Thanks. I'll guess I'll just buy at the parks then.

I was concerned the one I would buy ahead of time might be a slightly different model and the machine wouldn't take it to swap.

They are super helpful at Disney! All of the deluxe/DVC lobbies have machines. There are also multiple machines in the parks. If you happen to get a bad rod, just put it back in the machine and get another one. Easy peasy.

You could also look at various Anker models. Even the smaller ones have a higher capacity than Disneyís fuel rods last time I looked. Itís been awhile, so disney may have beefed them up.

I have a smaller Anker the size of a candy bar that will do my phone about 2x and a larger Anker that will do the iPad 3 times. I keep the smaller in my camera bag for the parks.

Of course, you canít swap the Ankers but Iíve never had a problem with a charged phone and an Anker getting me through. Indeed, usually itís just the phone.

Thank you. I will look up the small Ankers and analyze.

The Anker PowerCore Fusions are wonderful. Wall charger with foldable plugs, and built in batteries. Plus Anker quality.
