Default seasoned veteran.....rookie mistake

I handle the DVC ressie, FFlyer transport and wife takes care of rest. We are three days out for departure and wife asked for luggage tags and I checked and didnt have them....(Insert Ralphie Fuuuuddddgee) I forgot to add airefare to Magic Express.

There is a work around. We made very obvious Disney tags for our luggage and have a copy of this tag that we will hand to Disney along with baggage tags.

Anyone else ever have to use this due to late signup for ME?

For me this is trip number 25 or so, 14 with magic Express and just plain missed it.

Q. I did not receive my Disney's Magical Express documents or luggage tags prior to leaving home. What should I do?

A. Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, go directly to Disney's Magical Express and speak with a Disney Cast Member.

If you have received your MagicBands, please be sure not to pack them in your checked luggage, as they will be used to check in with Disney’s Magical Express and to unlock your room when you arrive at your Disney Resort hotel.

If your flight arrives between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM, please provide us with the checked baggage claim numbers that you received from your airline when you checked your bags. We will obtain your information, collect your luggage and deliver it to your room at your Disney Resort hotel.

For airport arrivals after 10:00 PM, you must collect your luggage at Baggage Claim and take it with you on the motorcoach.

Default we got that info

Our luggage looks like everyone else's so we made some bright tags similar to the magic express tags with our info.

we will pack some extra in our carry ons, but sure it will all work out.

You just have to give the DME staff the receipts you get when checking your bags. International guests do this without any problems.

Without the special yellow tags, your luggage will come out onto the carousel and the DME handlers will take it off from there. Some people do get antsy about that process, in which case your only other option is to collect the bags yourself.

We rarely check luggage so I tossed the ME luggage tags because I always toss the luggage tags. So we pack our big bag (the size that most use as carry-on - I think it's called an overnight) and DH looks at me for the luggage tags. In my minds eye I can see me throwing them out.

Our work-around was to wait for the luggage at MCO and take it to ME with us and our carry-on. As we were cruising I couldn't take the chance of it being late.

So, it went something like this:

Dan: Do you know what happened to the ME tags?
Janet: Why, yes! Yes, I do!

I'd be antsy...I don't want my suitcases going around the carousel hoping that a DME handler will find it. I would get my luggage myself from the carousel and take it with me on the ME bus (people do this all the time, they have lots of space for luggage underneath).

I can certainly understand the concern, but I’ve handled it last-second without the tags several times without any issues. Just let them know when you check in at the Magical Express kiosks.

Oh, yes. I signed up for DME a few days in advance because of a family emergency. What had been scheduled as a driving road trip for both of us became a solo flying trip for me (including DME). And I did exactly as described above-when I checked into my flight and they gave me my luggage claim tickets, I saved them to give to DME when I checked in there. They took my information and relayed it to their baggage claimers as I stood there. Took all of about 30 extra seconds, and I just trusted my luggage would arrive, which it did, just as scheduled.
