Bob Iger doesn't need to tell us why he stayed on - it's very well documented - the board and his investors begged him and incentivized him to stay on. Twice. He stayed on past first retirement plans in 2015 and then again in 2016 when heir apparent, Tom Skaggs, left.

Good thing! - Disney has more than doubled their year-over-year results since Iger became CEO:

Before Iger took the helm; Fiscal Year 2005: $31.9B in revenue

Iger's last re-up year; Fiscal Year 2016: $55.6B in revenue

Iger's last full year; Fiscal Year 2019: $69.6B in revenue

For the "many, many loyal customers driven away", he sure has - - as proven with actual facts and numbers - - found many, many, many, many others to fill the "vulnerability" void quite successfully! Facts are facts.

Iím not saying Iím right or saying that youíre wrong. Let history determine that

JUST KIDDING -- on both parts of that statement.
Sorry - I really need to have some fun and laugh, with all that's been going on this past week.
Amen to laughter! It's been a crazy few weeks!

I think now we all know why Iger stepped down. And this is just the beginning. Follow the money. NBA, NHL, MLB, Disney..... Big Tech have been "work at home" for much longer than schools b/c they knew better.

We ain't seen nothing yet. Follow the money.

I agree with your grandpa; however, unless Iger sold a SIGNIFICANT amount of his stock I would think he would have prefered to be at the helm directing the ship than have his fortune in the hands of someone else. You know, if it is all about the money for him.

Everyone needs to just step away from the tin foil logic. This current ride is a rollercoaster for most everyone.

I work from home too. In IT.
My advisors had been predicting a market downturn and recession for the last 6-8 months.
Originally I had NO plans to travel to WDW this Spring. First time in maybe 10 years (and that included the year my dad died suddenly just 2 months before our trip. I still went without him, albeit for less time).

No one had any notion a virus mutation would send the world into a panic. How would anyone be able to predict that? That's one of those outlier possibilities portfolio analysts run to look for weaknesses.

I know it seems hard right now, but seriously resist the desire to go negative and lash out. It won't help you. You just make yourself more miserable.

Remember what happened after 9/11? Parks closed and everyone was afraid of their own shadow. No one wanted to travel for fear they'd get blown up. What did they do? They started going back to the places they knew were safe. Disney was one of the first to recover in the travel industry.

The parks were as crowded as ever this weekend, despite fear of a widespread virus.

You are so correct. He stepped down "effective immediately" on december 21. He did not want to deal with this mess. He certainly could not have resigned in the middle of this.
