Default BroganMc Returning This Fall (Did ya miss me?)

Hey everyone!

So I finally got around to booking reservations for myself back to Disney World. I will be returning for a month this autumn (October-November) and again for Christmas/NYE week.

Still waiting to find out what family will be joining me. There are 16 of us now. We are all happy and healthy. No one perished from the pandemic. In fact no one has even gotten the virus. I opted to travel within my state last year. I became a happy Beach Bum over the summer and developed a newfound appreciation for our family home in Ocean City. I even rented a power Beach wheelchair and was out every morning watching the sunrise over those warm salty waves.

We did have one extended family lost this year. My frequent traveling companion/cousin lost his mom just this month. She was 90 living at home with her family and in good health looking forward to getting her vaccinations and returning to normal life when God had other plans. She had a massive stroke and passed away in the hospital days later. So right now my family, and myself personally, are helping my cousin and my uncle through this sad new adjustment to life. I'm hoping that by the Fall I can entice them to return to Disney for a little magic. One thing you learn in life is that every moment is precious because you never know when today may be your last.

As for Disney, I've been keeping my eye on all those brave souls who tried traveling over the last year. All these restrictions are not for me. But I'm hopeful that by the 50th Anniversary this autumn, the company Executives will start to bring back all the things that make Disney special for me and my family.

One other little tidbit, I am finally going to get a new power wheelchair. A very cool one that raises to walking height as well as reclines and spins on a dime.

I hope to see many of my mouseowners are friends down in The Mouse House this fall. Until then I'll see you all on the boards.

For those of you interested in my family, we are still growing and expanding. The oldest niece is still engaged and planning the wedding for 2022. She will be graduating in May and begin her Adult career job hunting. Currently she is in North Carolina but hopes to move to Florida.

The Marine nephew is stationed in California for another year of training. Then he expects Texas and Lord knows where. He likes being The Golden Child everyone celebrates when he manages to get leave and can surprise us with a visit.

My siblings and I are another year older and still enjoying each other's company. Turns out the two youngest siblings (Brohawk and I) are the chatty cathys while our elders can't keep up. Definitely baby boomers. We seem to be doing just fine taking over for our dad and managing this crazy group.

We currently have 5 kids in college, three working full-time, 8 over 18 and 5 over 21 (legal drinking age, That's a big thing you know). The 2 youngest kids are high schoolers eager to join their cousins.

I can't say I'm in touch with every single member of this family all the time, but I am amazed and how much they are in touch with each other. Whether it be video game chat, snapchat, Instagram, Hangouts chat groups, Zoom meets, FaceTime meets, ad-hoc vacations, somehow they just manage to stay in touch with each other. And with all the competing schedules, trying to work out travel plans has gotten as complicated as a calculus equation.

Nice to hear from you, Jen, and good to hear you and yours are weathering the pandemic. We’ve canceled two trips to WDW in the past year and are keeping our fingers crossed for the July trip. Haven’t seen my kids who live in Seattle in over a year so hoping to have both vaccinations by then.

Good luck with the new wheels, sounds perfect.

Hi Jen, I have been wondering how you were doing with all this. I am glad you are back and look forward to hearing more from you. We are going for the 50th too and hoping for the best.

My sympathies about your aunt. We have definitely learned through all this to appreciate each moment with family.

So wonderful to hear from you Jen! I'm hoping things will change up for our November family trip (so I don't have to cancel!). Would love to be able to see you and your purple lights one night in a park!
