We have 300 VGF because we have stayed in 1 bdrm and don't want to go back.
Our son has 100 AKV. He usually travels with either his best friend or adult sister so studios work well for him.

We are down to 775-

BC 300 (200 + 100)
VWL 150
BLT 160 (had to get a founder's tile!)
VGF 165 (50 + 75 + 40)

Sold all of our SSR and a few of our VWL a few years ago to purchase VGF.

The nice thing about this is I have nothing to take care of or fix. Nothing to maintain or clean.....Its all included.

Exactly what my DH said...nothing to fix!! Nothing to paint or clean We are going to explore for a weekend in Jan. saving even more points. ( running over to the Gulf Coast for Fri and Sat. Will keep you posted.

We are mixing it up, combo of studios and 1Br. We also have a trip to DL planned in May... so maybe when we can use all of our points in Winter, it will be 1 BR the whole time!

So, if ROFR goes our way, we will have a total of 895 points. But considering selling all or part of SSR next year.
210+105+230+320=865

We had a FL condo ( we are snowbirds) but got VERY tired of the Condo Board and rising monthly assessments and special assessments. So - we are using our DVC points now as our Winter Condo. We have 3 weeks total planned in Jan and March of 2018, so we'll see how it works. We will be working during the day and out playing late afternoon and evening and weekends.

Our annual fees are $5000. but still SO much cheaper than the condo. And we have such beautiful properties to pick from! I am very excited about it!

This is exactly our plan for the future as well as the present. When we first bought points the money was earmarked for a Poconos ski house. We went for 2 years in the winter then went to Disney one February. That was it, we all decided Florida is much better than skiiing, tubing, skating.

A one bedroom at OKW for the month of January is approx. 670 points. We are at 800, figure a 1000 could get us through the 3rd week in February.

I know the points expire, but like you said, no extra fees. No upkeep. No renting when it sits for 9 months without us there. No shoveling snow. No chopping wood. No incidental problems needing fixing.

And the last thing I tell people when they say, "huh, what? retire in Disney?". I say ok, let me describe a place without you knowing where it is......."100 restaurants, plentiful entertainment depending on your budget, free transportation and very minimal crime, how's that sound?"

My DVC goal was to have enough points to stay in WDW for 6 weeks and have enough points to cover all the maintenance fees in rentals.

Right now, I can stay in a 1-bedroom from Jan 1 to Feb 10, for six full weeks, and have enough left over points to cover all the maintenance fees. In a few years, I will probably add another 500 or so points.

I love that idea, I just absolutely hate the rental of points, I find it such a PITA. To do it right I would have to set up a seperate Disney bank account, which I probably should do. I'll see you on the resale market during the next recession. If MF's is my main expense of snowboarding I am good with it.
