This last trip I used my smartphone almost exclusively. If course I have a fancy new LG G7 so the camera is awesome. I did pull out my super zoom 35x camera a couple times but not my DSLR.

Like you said, photographing everything takes you away from the moment. But I also have this desire to document what I do. My photos are automatically backed up to Google photos. Then I get these random "What You Were Doing 5 Years Ago Today" notifications. Good times.

There's a happy balance between documenting and enjoying the moment. The trick is to find it. I have the same struggle when I Live Blog. If I'm having too much fun or am caught up in the moment, I will go days without blogging. But then I feel a need to catch up lest I forget what happened.
