Default Another Disney money grab

Have to say, I was a little irked last week when I went to buy a gift card. In years past it was fun to give all the kids in our group $5 gift cards good for an ice cream. In the case last week, I wanted to do a $10 gift card as an add on to an existing birthday gift. Nope! Now the minimum is $15 for gift cards.

Can you buy an ice cream for $5?

In all seriousness, that does stink, so is the minimum for a gift card $15 if you want to add to a gift card it has to be $15?

I wouldn't call it a money grab. Gift cards cost money to produce and accept. At some point, they're not worth the hassle for Disney.

You could always buy several gift cards and then transfer the money around using the disney gift card website so that each card you give away has $5 and then you keep the master gift card that has the higher balance. If the kids don't lose their card, you could always load it back up.

That's a great idea!

I did something similar at Starbucks at holidays. Most of the GCs were a $10 or $15 minimum. The "prettiest" cards required $15. So I bought a $15 card. Paid. I said I need to buy a $10 card and paid with my $15 card. That card now had $5. I kept the $10 since I only needed one. But sadly as someone mentioned, what can you get with $5 anymore.
