Default SOS cruise experts please help!

So Bill and I are going on a Disney Cruise in Oct. I am sure we will book another cruise.

What are the benefits to rebooking while we are onboard?

What is the cheapest time of year to cruise and which is the least expensive port to sail from?

Lets forget about getting to the port.

I was leaning towards booking something from Galveston but it really seemed high, after all it's just Galveston and Mexico it's nothing special to me! I live in Texas and I grew up at Galveston!

I am also leaning towards LA.

Any help and all opinions are appreciated.

Do a search. We discussed this in a lot of detail recently. I highlighted it in the Buzz that week because there was lots of good info.

Mexican Riviera was fun in Jan/Feb - humpback whales with tiny babies in Puerta Vallarta. Enjoy your search.

So Bill and I are going on a Disney Cruise in Oct. I am sure we will book another cruise.

Booking a cruise while on a DCL Cruise is the best discount you can get..

What are the benefits to rebooking while we are onboard?

10% of your next cruise $100-$200 on-board-credit for your next cruise. You have the ability to transfer your cruise to another date and retain your discount.

What is the cheapest time of year to cruise and which is the least expensive port to sail from?

This depends on what port you are sailing from and your destination. For example, leaving Port Canaveral to Bahamas its Sept/Oct/Jan. If you are leaving Seattle/Vancouver its the earliest May and late September sailings.

Lets forget about getting to the port.

I was leaning towards booking something from Galveston but it really seemed high, after all it's just Galveston and Mexico it's nothing special to me! I live in Texas and I grew up at Galveston!

I am also leaning towards LA.

Disney has stopped cruises from LA after this fall, except for some repositioning cruises.

This is the thread I was talking about. Really detailed information from TomandRobin here: http://www.mouseowners.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=66632

Tom, there was a question that didn't get answered at the end of the thread from Dirk. Basically, how can a person make sure at the time of booking onboard that their travel agent is properly listed?

Good question....

There is a place on the reservation form that asks if you have a travel agent. You have to list their agency name, travel agent name and phone number.

Robin includes in her clients final package of documents, she will include instructions about booking while on board and list the additional on-board-credit that she offers, based on the cruise booked.

The on-board rep saw Robin listed and included her when I asked.

September appears to be a good deal nearly everywhere because of school schedules and weather (colder in Aaska, New England; hurricanes in Caribbean).

You also have length differentials. For instance, there are 5 night Western sailings from Miami, but only 7 night sailings from Port Canveral. I'm not sure what Galveston is offering, but I'm not sure Castaway Cay is on those sailings.

I will say that the 10% booking discount is a great inducement to always keeping a reservation at the ready.

Dirk

You can also just book the cruise and then give your TA the info, they can move it to them.

I did this on my last one as the TA that I was booked with was NOT ever getting another booking. A friend of mine that is a TA took it over and we just keep moving it, but I am not sure you can still move over and over... thought I read something about that. (This cruise may not happen until 2014 at this rate. I only do the Magic/Wonder so it makes it harder. I was completly underwhelmed with the Dream and have no desire to try the Fantasy based on the Dream... I wanted LA but... so we wait)

You can do that but then your TA does not get the full commission. If you have a TA you are loyal to it's always best to give their information on board when you re-book.
