Happened to DH at SSR. He checked in a day before us. I had a studio for him and a two bedroom once we all got there. When he checked in, he was upgraded to a 1 bedroom, with the option to go to a lock off when I checked in with the rest of the family the next day (I declined the offer so he still had to switch the next day because I wanted the dedicated two bedroom). But it does happen

Wow, so lucky for the upgrade. I am a DVC member 20 years. Never an upgrade. Glad you had a good time.

I saw the pictures of the puddles too. That's a shame a little rain then stopping but non stop is crazy.

A quick Magical Express ride, then checked at the desk to see if they had any idea when our room would be ready. CM told me that 3100 was ready for us. I expected a garden view studio, but we were very surprised when we walked into a 1 bedroom. I was expecting a call saying they made a mistake, but no call came and we had a wonderful 5 nights there!! The washer and dryer especially came in handy with the intermittent "monsoon" type rains that came. We were prepared with rain jackets, extra sneakers and small umbrellas. We do need a water-proof backpack.
We own at BLT, which we love, especially when grand-kids are with us, but BW is also a favorite. I have no complaints about our stay there, the CM could not have been nicer or helpful.
We had a fun time in all the parks, despite the occasional showers. Crowds were manageable and we thought CM and other guests were very friendly.
We went to our first MM at AK, stayed till 12, actually walked a total of 14 miles that day, and had a fun time. Enjoyed the treats, the meet and greats and the 10 minute wait for Navi River. We had a FP for FOP earlier in evening.
We also visited Disney Springs for the first time, kind of felt like a mall, but oh the choices when you're looking for something to eat or drink.
Got home late last night, have a bit of the post Disney depression, but only 197 days until we return to BLT for our Holiday Visit.
This is why we love DVC, always planning another vacation!
My daughter was upgraded from a studio to 1BR at BWV too. Somehow they screwed up her reservation and instead of auto check-in, they cancelled her reservation. The front desk moved her to a 1BR that was part of their cash-only inventory. She also got daily maid service since it was essentially a “free” cash only reservation. Who was I to argue? The screwy thing is that not only did they make that mistake, but they refunded all of my credits into a holding account. I did call member services to reverse that error. I would not have felt right keeping them.

My friend was just upgraded from an inn room to a two bedroom at Vero this month on a reservation I booked for her. They were told there was a mechanical issue in the room they were supposed to be in.

I can tell you that we didnt use it due to the rain event passing us by. But, since you mentioned waterproof, I thought I would tell you what we planned on.

Glad you had a good time!
We bought one of the jackets of the same brand for my son. We were there at the same time as the OP and the rain was no joke. The little jacket worked great. He was by far the dryest of the bunch. I wish I'd bought one for everyone. Haha I'll have to check out the backpack for our next trip.

And great luck on the upgrade. We got upgraded to Club level once and it was pretty nice.
