I get spoofed phone calls all the time on my cell phone. When we moved to SW Florida, we kept our old numbers and we were getting phone calls all the time from our old area code. We even had people call us saying they got a call from our number. Usually the call is about my student loan or car warranty or my credit card ("there is nothing wrong with your credit card"). I'd never rely on the number in my phone when I get a weird phone call. More likely, it is a spoofed number.

I did not even realize there was a similar scam going on with Marriott and Westin and Worldmark. Do those timeshares also allow you to transfer point in and out like DVC?

The scam doesnít always involve transfers. Itís sometimes for reservation rentals.

Yes, points based systems usually allow members to transfer between accounts. Worldmark is an example of such. Marriott also has both destination club points and fixed weeks, but I am not familiar with their points.

Several thoughts -

1- This is enough to never make me want to transfer points again

2 - This is why some owners value their points and will not low ball them. Granted Barb probably was getting (originally) a good price but sometimes asking a fair market price prevents issues. Sadly, in this case it did not.

3- I am so glad I have wonderful customers who rent from me and I do not have to seek people out on a routine basis!

Both of these issues are happening to me almost daily. I have people call me who are angy with me for calling them, but I calmly explain that I did not call them.

Default renter

Hi ,

Is there a way for me a renter to check to make sure they are actual DVC members before I rent from them?

THanks

Bruce
