Hysterical everybody worries about a plastic straw and impact on environment but automobiles to personally drive us around property is acceptable.

I can't believe WDW went from introducing Magic Express to destroy the independent shuttle driver business on property to & from airports/ to current Minnie Van and allowing uber & lyftt driving all over.

I hope Disney makes the Minnie Vans really expensive. Suck it up and see what public transportation feels like while on Disney property if you are truly worried about the straws.
Disney has made the Minnie Vans ridiculously expensive, even compared to taxis. Most likely for the very reasons you mention - Disney doesn't want more vehicles on their roads but also knows a certain segment of the population wants dedicated Disney service and are willing to pay for it.

I suspect most who would take the MV come hell or high prices aren't all that worried about straws, either, so no need to throw shade.

And, in some cases, MVs are offering something nobody else is - multiple car seats or easy handling of an ECV.

I can't believe that inflated price. Even at $25 I would take the Minnie Van a few times per trip. At this "rate", even with a child who needs a car seat, I won't use the service unless there is a massive line for buses and I need to make a critical reservation.

Now if they start doing park to park Minnie van inside the security bubble, then I'd consider paying that high cost.

They essentially did that with their Express Transportation option (MV would have to work the same way). And it was very reasonably priced. Yet nobody used it. When I used it, I might as well have had a Minnie Van for all the people (not) on the bus . . .

A 4 or 5 mile trip from a distant resort to Epcot or an Epcot/DS resort to MK will now cost $28.75 or so.

Virtually impossible to take a $25 trip at those rates. Tells me Disney doesn't want to expand Minnie Vans but wants to offer them for those willing to pay for an upgraded vacation experience.

That also makes sense because putting more Minnie Vans on the road will be contrary to Disney's environmental goals.

It's back to Uber/Lyft or Taxi for me. I can't fathom even a taxi ride costing $37 to go from dinner at Jiko or Victoria & Albert's to Saratoga Springs.

At least now it's clear what Minnie Vans are for - upgraded service, not alternate transportation.

Minnie vans are for a couple of groups; .
  • The "we will only do Disney at any price because it makes us special" group
  • Those who honestly believe "if Disney is charging 2x as much then it's better" group.
  • Those who are afraid of the world and want to stay in what they perceive is a "safe" bubble

and of course they group that needs a car seat. (As I expected Disney has managed to move into the pricing level of the rideshare services that provide car seats)

The "upgraded service"? I don't think it's "upgraded" much. Actually considering the one time I rode a Minnie Van the wait was twice as long as for any other similar service I would go it's actually below the standard (and note I had the van called by a Disney manager as a "service recovery' move LOL!)

Disney knows that their fans are willing to pay 2x the going rate. They don't really need to be competitive (see their hotel pricing!)

That was a big bummer. I was so excited to use that on our trip last summer but it was cancelled and only available for a day or so. Certainly a Minnie Van can fit anywhere a bus used to backstage
