Me too.. looking for our February flights. I'll have to judge the prices when they open though. We bought our December flights right as they opened up at $112 each way. They next day the same flights were only $99.

We just cancelled out NYE trip d/t flight costs (other reasons also factored in...). Fights for NYE were >$600/person!

Holy you know what! That's awful. They know when they've got you and they take advantage of it.
Our DD now works for a public school system so she is limited to school vacation times. Of course the airlines know this too and increase their prices during school breaks. I'm not sure how we'll deal with this yet.

I haven't done it yet, but it's supposedly easy to rebook Southwest for the lower fare (or point total for rewards) when it drops. We just earned a companion pass and will be doing all southwest trips for a bit, so should hopefully work out well.

The only problem is using the savings while it's valid. We have been flying 2-3x per year lately so it's not an issue, but I have lost some of the credits in the past.
